About me
Hello, my name is Lindsey. I am an integrative counsellor and a registered member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP). Adherence to this framework ensures I work in a professional and ethical way, keeping you, the client, at the centre of our work. Counselling is a collaborative space, which offers a unique opportunity to be truly heard in a warm, compassionate and unjudged space, where you can safely explore your experiences and together we can work towards making sense of your world. I will be guided by you as I believe you are the expert on your own life and have the capacity to make the changes you desire for yourself. However, there are many factors that can impact this, and from time to time you may seek support. My aim is to empower you, to become more self directive in your life. I draw on a number of theories to inform my practice which means that I can tailor counselling to meet your individual needs.
I currently offer online and face to face counselling for adults and young people. Sessions are 50 minutes and usually weekly. I offer a free initial 20 minute assessment session via zoom or by telephone, where we can discuss what your individual needs are. I would then send you the relevant information via email and invite you to take a few days to consider whether you would like to work with me.
Training, qualifications & experience
I am a qualified integrative counsellor and have a Bachelors degree in Therapeutic Counselling from the University of Surrey. Prior to this, I gained the CPCAB Level 4 diploma in Therapeutic Counselling and CPCAB levels 2 and 3 in counselling studies/skills. Since then, I have completed the CPCAB level 5 in Working with Young People. I have also attended specialised training to enhance what I can offer clients such as - Working with Neurodiversity, Working with Disordered Eating and Body Image, Working with Suicide and Self Harm, and Supporting clients in the LGBTQIA+ community.
During the pandemic, I trained as an online and telephone Counsellor.
As part of my bachelors degree, I carried out a research project on the intricacies of disordered eating.
I have experience working in various settings with clients face to face, via zoom and telephone. I have worked with clients between the ages of 10 and 65 years old presenting with a range of concerns.
I currently work with adults and young people aged between 10yrs and 65yrs+.
Member organisations
BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
Accredited register membership
The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
