About me
I am a Europe Accredited EMDR Consultant/ clinical Supervisior specialising in trauma including PTSD and Complex PTSD. I am a BACP accredited, registered psychotherapist with over 19 years of post qualifying experience. I work within the BACP framework for ethical practice. I am a humanistic practitioner believing that everyone has the potential to determine their own lives. I believe that through awareness it is possible to identify choices that will enable growth and change unhealthy patterns of behaviour and relating. I work empathically and with compassion in a non-judgemental way to establish a collaborative and confidential relationship of trust with my clients.
"There is a crack in everything
That's how the light gets in"
by Leonard Cohen
I have undergone extensive training and have many years of experience in working with trauma. The ways I work with trauma is a method called EMDR an acknowledged safe and effective method of working with trauma to reduce many of the debilitating effects (recommended in the N.I.C.E. guidelines). I also work with the methods promoted by Babette Rothschild (a psychotherapist with much experience and expertise in the field of trauma). These methods focus on the safety of the client to avoid re-traumatisation. I have worked for many years with adult survivors of childhood sexual abuse, physical abuse, emotional/psychological abuse and domestic abuse. I have also much experience of working with developmental trauma, attachment disorders, dissociation and bereavement. I am passionate about my work with abused and traumatised people and will work ethically to ease the distress and effects including flashbacks, nightmares and panic attacks.
I have experience of working with trauma in many different areas including road traffic accidents and traumatic bereavement. Although I have specialised in working with abuse and trauma I also have much experience of working with many other areas such as depression, low self-esteem, phobias and relationship issues and find there is often a crossover between issues.
I offer therapy to individuals. As an EMDR Consultant I offer clinical supervision to EMDR therapists

Member organisations
school Registered / Accredited
Being registered/accredited with a professional body means an individual must have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by their member organisation.
BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
Accredited register membership
The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
