About me
Are you finding you wake up feeling consistently low and/or anxious? Is it a struggle to open up to those closest to you? Do you feel there is a block stopping you from moving forward? Know that these feelings are not uncommon and over time, there are ways to bring about change.
The first step towards finding a counsellor takes courage. I can provide a supportive and safe space to help you express your thoughts, understand your emotions and offer tools for when overwhelm and self-doubt strike, helping you to feel calmer and in more control.
Seeking counselling doesn’t always have to mean you have reached crisis point - it can help you to work through your thoughts in a way a friend or family member couldn’t. Therapy can enable personal growth and maintain mental wellbeing in a unique space which is dedicated only to you.
Training, qualifications & experience
I have experience working with a variety of client presentations, including anxiety & depression, bereavement, social anxiety, health anxiety, traumatic life events, domestic violence and abuse, low self-worth, relationship and family issues, and working with older people. I have a specialist interest in perinatal mental health, including pregnancy, postpartum mental health, birth trauma and reflections, and baby loss.
I trained in Cambridge in integrative therapies, so can work interchangeably between therapeutic modalities - humanistic (person-centred), psychodynamic (past and childhood) and cognitive behavioural therapy – depending on what is most appropriate for working with you. My approach is gentle and relational, yet challenging where appropriate.
I became a therapist because I enjoy building connections with people, empowering change, and understand how important it is to feel heard. I know the value of finding professional support which can lead to a release and empower self-growth.
Member organisations

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
Accredited register membership

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.

Additional information
The therapeutic relationship is at the core of my practice. Know that I won’t provide you with answers, but instead we will work together to find a way forward. Please reach out by email/phone and we can have an initial 20-minute (free) chat for me to hear what’s on your mind and for us to talk about how I can support. Should this lead to a first session, we will begin with an open mind and hearing your story.
I have some availability to offer concessionary rates, including for trainee counsellors.
Further information
I work with adults (18+) and offer face-to-face counselling in Bury St Edmunds. I also offer online or telephone counselling, which means you are not restricted by accessibility, geography, or simply want to be in the comfort of your own home.
Sessions can be either short or longer term, depending on your needs. Short-term counselling focuses on immediate problems and helping you to find a way to manage them, whereas longer term counselling will help you to have a deeper understanding of issues, to develop understanding and self-acceptance.
