About me
Hello, I’m Lauren (MBACP), counsellor at Speak to Lauren.
If you’re feeling anxious, overwhelmed, low in confidence or emotionally drained, you’re not alone. You might feel stuck in overthinking, caught in intense emotions, feeling lonely, or quietly struggling to keep up with everything life is asking of you.
I offer online counselling for adults, with a particular focus on neurodivergent people, including those with ADHD, autism or OCD. This can include people with a formal diagnosis, those who self-identify as neurodivergent, or those who are simply wondering whether this might help make sense of their experiences. I work with people experiencing anxiety, overwhelm, low self-confidence, relational challenges, burnout and the impact of earlier life experiences. I especially enjoy working with people who think and experience the world differently, including those in creative, music or entertainment industries, where pressure, irregular routines and emotional demands can feel overwhelming.
You may be:
- Stuck in anxious or racing thoughts
- Burnt out from masking or pushing too hard
- Feeling misunderstood, isolated or disconnected from yourself
- Struggling with relationships, family dynamics or expectations
- Experiencing intense emotions, a feeling of 'flatness' or difficulty switching off
Many of my clients say it’s a relief to speak to someone who understands busy minds, creativity and the experience of feeling different, without needing to explain or justify themselves.
How I can help
Therapy with me is about helping you acknowledge and understand your feelings, rather than pushing them away. Together, we make sense of what’s going on beneath the surface so you can better understand yourself, your needs and your patterns, and find ways forward that feel more manageable and more like you.
I work in a person-centred, experiential way, which means I won’t tell you what to do. Instead, we focus on your thoughts, emotions and patterns as they become apparent, together, to build self-understanding, self-compassion and new ways forward that feel right for you.
You don’t need to have anything figured out before starting. You don't even need to know exactly what's wrong or where to begin. We can work that out together. Clarity often comes through being heard, or even just hearing yourself.
What it’s like to work with me
- A warm, non-judgemental space where you can be yourself
- Flexible sessions, if needed, to suit creative or unpredictable schedules
- Neurodiversity-affirming adjustments (examples: camera off, movement breaks, comfort items)
- Freedom to express yourself through words, writing, drawing or music
- A down-to-earth, collaborative approach
- Therapy doesn’t have to feel clinical or complicated. At its heart, it’s a space to feel understood, reduce overwhelm, and begin relating to yourself with more kindness.
Availability (Aug ’26):
This is a period of beginnings and endings, meaning I have a rare evening slot (Wednesdays), plus 4 others throughout the weekdays. I offer a free, relaxed exploratory call so you can see if working together feels right.
You don’t have to keep doing this alone. When you’re ready, come as you are and Speak To Lauren.
Training, qualifications & experience
I’m a registered member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (MBACP) and hold a Level 4 Diploma in Therapeutic Counselling, as well as Level 2 and 3 certificates in counselling skills and studies.
Aside from private practice, my counselling experience includes:
- Lewes Low Cost Counselling Service (2025 - present): a charity providing affordable, high-quality counselling to adults in Lewes and the surrounding areas. Volunteering allows me to support individuals who might otherwise struggle to access therapy, while applying my skills to help clients navigate emotional challenges and improve their well-being.
- Wellbeing in the Arts (2023 – present): providing online counselling for adults working in creative industries, supporting challenges such as anxiety, burnout, and creative blocks.
- BIMM Brighton (2024 – 2025): offering one-to-one counselling for students in music, screen and film, and performing arts, both online and face-to-face. This role gave me deeper insight into supporting young adults and neurodivergent clients navigating academic and creative demands.
Alongside my counselling training, I hold a BSc (Hons) in Biomedical Science and a certificate in Working Therapeutically with Autistic Clients. My continuing professional development also includes workshops, conferences and learning focused on trauma, ADHD, self-harm, suicidality, OCD, and resilience.
This blend of training, lived experience (as a neurodivergent counsellor myself), and professional practice allows me to create a safe, affirming environment where difference is respected and valued.
Member organisations
BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
Accredited register membership
The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.

Therapy works best when it feels like it truly fits you. I encourage clients to share what helps and what doesn’t, so we can shape the space together. For some people that means weekly sessions at a fixed time, for others it means more flexibility. You can also book a free 20-minute introductory call to get a feel for whether we might work well together. My goal is to create a space that feels safe, supportive, and tailored to your needs.
