About me

Looking for the right counsellor can be a bit of a minefield, so if you are reading this then you are one step closer to beginning your counselling journey with me. I offer a free 15 minute consultation because I encourage you to look at other therapists to make the best decision, after all, you are investing in yourself so it should be the best.

It is common for people to disregard painful feelings or experiences and to bury them or put them in a box never to be opened again or dealt with until they begin to force their way out and into everyday life. Having been a client before becoming a counsellor I have some understanding of how dark some of these places can be which led me into this role of counsellor.

As a Person-centred counsellor I believe that ultimately you hold the answers to your struggles and that you have the power to change the way you look at, experience and deal with these issues. You are the only person who knows what is best and truly understands what you need and where you are right now. Together we can explore what you feel you need and how you can make changes and move forward in order to build the life you want and deserve, and most importantly be happy.

Training, qualifications & experience

I have a Psychology and Counselling degree from 2010 and I furthered my studies by also completing a Postgraduate Diploma in Counselling and Psychotherapy. I enjoy broadening my knowledge so I have also completed a lot of CPD courses from gender identity, development, domestic abuse, living with pain and health conditions to name just a few.

I have experience working with Childline, Barnardos and Fortalice, which is women's and children's refuge. I currently work as a school counsellor in Manchester. All of these positions have given me the opportunity to work with a wide range of ages, which also brings a variety of issues that has developed my skills.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Accredited register membership

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
