About me

In each session, I provide a warm, empathetic, and open environment where you can freely delve into your thoughts and feelings. As a person-centered counsellor, I follow your lead and support whatever you choose to discuss. Together, we'll navigate your feelings and experiences, aiming to enhance your self-awareness to better manage past, present, or future challenges.

As someone who identifies as LGBTQI+ I bring a unique perspective to my counseling approach, which can be especially beneficial for clients exploring their sexuality and/or gender identity. My goal is to create a safe and inclusive space where clients feel supported and empowered to explore and embrace their true selves.

Choosing the right counselor and fostering a strong therapeutic relationship are essential for effective therapy. That's why I offer a complimentary 15-minute phone consultation which allows you to ask any questions you may have and determine if it feels like a good fit.

Training, qualifications & experience

I am a fully qualified Counsellor who's a registered member of the BACP and adhere to their ethical guidelines. I did my training in South London and have now moved back to Wales where I'm currently practicing.

Qualifications

  • Level 4 - Diploma in Therapeutic Counselling (Including 100+hours in client work)
  • Level 3 -Certificate in Counselling Studies
  • Level 2- Certificate in Counselling Skills

Counselling Experience

I have worked with a mixture of young adults (16-21) and adults alike and have worked with a diverse range of people experiencing stress, depression, loneliness, suicidal ideation, relationship problems, childhood trauma and exploring gender and sexuality. I work with clients who are neuro-divergant and have fidget toys, emotion cards and a notepad to write down thoughts if there's a struggle to communicate verbally in the moment, I'm very open to adapting  my practice where needed to be more accessible.

Other Experience

As well as being a counsellor, I also work for a charity supporting LGBT+ people who have experienced Domestic Abuse, Sexual Violence and Hate Crime so I am very confident to explore these themes in the counselling room too.

Prior to my course I also volunteered for the Samaritans between 2019-2022 providing empathetic and non-judgmental support to individuals experiencing suicidal thoughts, mental health challenges and loneliness.

I keep my knowledge up-to-date with regular training, reading, and clinical supervision. Outside of work, I enjoy running, attending music events/festivals and travel.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Accredited register membership

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
