About me

Do you sometimes feel like life is too stressful, confusing, sad or overwhelming? Or have you been through trauma that is preventing you from living the life you want for yourself? Please don't give up, life can be better and well done for taking that first step! Please phone or email me to arrange a free 15-30 minute consultation so that you have an opportunity to decide if I am the right therapist for you.

Hello, my name is Laura and I am a qualified, experienced integrative counsellor. My qualifications include person centred (PCT), cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT) and I have a degree in Psychology which all allow me to help you to work through issues affecting your mental and emotional health such as trauma, anxiety, depression, low self confidence/self esteem, bereavement, sexual/ emotional/ physical abuse, relationship difficulties and suicidal ideation.

So, If you have worrying life issues, thoughts, behaviours and/or emotions affecting you in a negative way and feel you are merely surviving rather than thriving - then please email me to arrange a free 15-30 minute consultation. We can discuss how I can help you understand and manage your emotions, thoughts and feelings to enable you to improve your own well-being and happiness.

I am a person centred therapist at heart so that means I am client led and we would work through the issues that you decide are most important to you. As my training was as an integrative therapist, I am able to draw from different modalities depending on which we agree is the best fit for you.  This includes cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT) which means we can work together to find strategies to help you to manage your thoughts, feelings and behaviours more effectively.

I understand that reaching out for help can be hard and I have great respect for anyone who is brave enough to come to counselling to work through their issues. I will meet you with warmth, kindness and without judgment.

I offer you a safe, peaceful and confidential space for you to work through your thoughts, feelings and emotions. I am here for you to help you reach your potential in a warm, authentic, non-judgmental, empathetic and understanding way.

My focus is to help you to reach your full potential and give you space to explore your experiences, thoughts and feelings, understand their impact on your life and then identify skills, strengths and strategies for you to use now and in the future to help you grow into the person you want to be.

I work in a professional, ethical manner, adhering to the rules and ethics of the British Association of Counsellors and Psychotherapists (BACP) of which I am a registered member.  Please email me if you would like a copy of my qualifications, BACP membership or Insurance coverage.

Most importantly, studies show that a strong therapeutic relationship between client and counsellor is essential to successful therapy outcomes for the client. Therefore, I always work on building a trusting, respectful, non-judgemental and caring relationship with my clients in a safe space.

So, if you think I may be the therapist for you, then please email me and we can arrange a free 15-30 minute consultation to give you the opportunity to decide for yourself if you feel I am the right therapist for you.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Accredited register membership

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
