MBACP (Accred) Individuals & Couples Counsellor & Supervisor

About me

Welcome to my individuals and couples counselling service.

You may be needing help as you’re at a point where nothing you’ve tried has helped and you’re starting to worry that everything in your life is being affected?

Are you struggling to be heard or to hear your partner? Struggling to understand one another or make decisions and finding it impossible to compromise with your differing opinions and needs, resulting in feeling frustrated and depressed?

This can be a scary time, having faith that a stranger can help when no-one else was able to.

Counselling helps

According to Dr Bruce Lipton, a cellular biologist at Stanford Medical School, “95% of all illness is caused by stress!”

As proven, mental health support can significantly improve your emotional and physical well being. Quantitative outcome measures completed by my clients at the start and end of the process, namely Core 10, PHQ 9 and GAD 7 are showing real evidence that they are finding the work helpful in gaining positive and real change with issues around depression, anxiety and stress.

Clients say being listened to, able to talk in a warm and trusting environment and encouraged to challenge their thinking has really helped them.

From experience I believe that the success of the therapeutic relationship and process relies on you finding the right person to work with who enables you to speak openly and helps you to feel safe, respected and empowered for change. Someone you can trust.

Many people have worked with me over the years wanting support to deal with debilitating and often life changing feelings and situations including, communication issues, affairs and betrayal, anxiety, anger, depression, low confidence, burnout, self harming, mistrust, loss and bereavement, retirement and aging, illness, menopause and manopause, the Transgender process, rape and abuse, identity and sexual issues, Autism and ADHD, struggling with social and relationship interactions and feeling misunderstood and alone and more.

My training in Transactional Analysis, Person Centred, CBT, Psychodynamic and Mindfulness since 2007 and enhanced training since allows me to work with both brief and open ended counselling and with a wide range of techniques and knowledge to offer and refer to when working with clients. I am also a Certified Neuro- Affirming practitioner enabling me to work with ADHD and Autism.

In addition to completing couples training in 2012, I have undertaken enhanced training to support couples who are navigating ADHD and Autism in the relationship, highlighting differing perspectives and needs.

I focus on offering a non- judgemental space where I not only listen to clients but really hear them by asking relevant questions and observing cues to understand their internal struggles and narratives, which they may find difficult to articulate verbally.

As your counsellor, we can work together to explore and help you to understand why you felt challenged, to establish coping strategies and change and reduce the impact and the chance of the same problems repeating themselves.

My counselling service is designed to support adult individuals and couples to:

  • See a future after losing a loved one.

Registered / Accredited

Being registered/accredited with a professional body means an individual must have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by their member organisation.

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
