About me

In-person counselling in Chester from April 2026

Hi, I'm Laura.

I offer online and telephone counselling throughout the UK, as well as in-person counselling from my office in Chester.

Many of us come to counselling feeling stuck with the same difficult thoughts or emotions.  We might try thinking more positively, distracting ourselves, keeping busy, or avoiding situations that bring those feelings up. Sometimes these strategies work for a while, but often those familiar thoughts and feelings eventually return.

As an ACT therapist, I help people find new ways of relating to their thoughts and feelings so that they have less power over daily life.

Counselling with me is about exploring this shift at your own pace and on your own terms. My work is grounded in person-centred values, which means our sessions focus on understanding your unique experience and offering a space where you feel genuinely heard, accepted, and able to explore things openly.

Specialisms
My core specialisms are anxiety and neurodivergence. I have worked with a wide range of clients experiencing anxiety, overwhelm, or feeling stuck in unhelpful patterns, and have particular experience supporting people with autism, ADHD, and PDA profiles,.

Alongside my counselling qualifications, I have a background in education and hold an MEd in Inclusion and Special Educational Needs. I also have lived experience of neurodivergence within my own life and family.

I am a registered member of the BACP and work in line with their ethical framework.

How we can work together
Sessions can take place online using Google Meet, Microsoft Teams, or Doxy, or over the phone via WhatsApp voice call.

From April 2026, I will also be offering in-person sessions from my office at Soughton House, Nicholas Street Mews, Chester.

I offer weekly or fortnightly sessions. Sessions last 50 to 60 minutes and cost £55.

First steps
Starting counselling can feel daunting, and online therapy may come with its own uncertainties. Finding the right therapeutic fit is important, so I offer a free 20-minute introductory call. This gives us a chance to talk about what you’re looking for and see whether working together feels like the right fit.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
