About me

Attachment-Informed Counsellor | Anxiety, Depression, Relationship Patterns, Boundaries & Self-Trust

Are you struggling with anxiety in your relationships - overthinking conversations, re-reading messages, or feeling unsettled even when nothing is obviously wrong? Perhaps you experience low mood or depression alongside self-doubt, people-pleasing, or difficulty holding boundaries.

I specialise in working with adults experiencing anxiety, depression and attachment-related patterns. Together, we explore how your early relational experiences may have shaped the way you relate to yourself and others - and, importantly, how those patterns can change.

You might recognise your behaviours in relationships, yet still feel stuck when it comes to doing things differently. Perhaps you over-explain, doubt yourself, struggle to say no, or feel responsible for how other people feel. These patterns often developed for good reasons - as ways of coping - but over time they can leave you feeling reactive, disconnected, or exhausted.

There is often overlap between attachment patterns and ADHD-related traits, particularly around emotional regulation and rejection sensitivity. I work with clients navigating this complexity, helping to normalise their experiences and develop greater self-understanding and self-compassion - with or without a formal diagnosis.

Alongside my professional training, I have done my own work around anxious attachment. I understand first-hand how self-doubt, reassurance-seeking, or difficulty trusting yourself can take hold - and how meaningful change is possible.

My approach is nurturing while also gently challenging. I offer a safe, structured space where we can make sense of your anxiety or low mood, strengthen emotional regulation, and build the boundaries and self-trust needed for more secure relationships.

Are you experiencing any of the following?

  • Regularly doubting yourself or second-guessing what you said or did
  • Over-explaining or justifying yourself
  • Knowing what your boundaries are, but struggling to keep them
  • Feeling responsible for how other people feel or react
  • Saying yes when you want to say no, then feeling resentful afterwards
  • Replaying conversations in your head and wondering if you got it “wrong”
  • Feeling unsettled in relationships, even when nothing there is no obvious reason
  • Looking to others for reassurance rather than trusting your own judgement
  • Feeling torn between wanting closeness and wanting space
  • Feeling disconnected from yourself or unsure what you actually want

Kind Words From My Former Clients

''Working with Lara has been a truly life changing experience. I learned tools to help me face life's challenges, and felt a level of understanding, support and compassion that is rare to find''.

''I want to thank you for making me look at myself differently. You made me see the positives in me and actually how important I am. You are fantastic at what you do. You have a warm, caring, gentle nature that instantly makes you at ease. Through this experience I've become stronger and look at things differently. You helped me see my buried problems, nobody else has ever managed to unravel the real me''.

''When I first started with Lara, I was a nervous wreck, and she totally turned my outlook around. She is very kind, patient, warm, and caring, and has helped me more than I can say. I always went away from her sessions feeling much better about myself''.

”First of all I just want to thank you for everything you have done for me. From the moment I stepped through the door until now, I feel like a different person in a very different place and that is all thanks to you. You got to know me so well so quickly and made me feel so comfortable. Through the highs and lows, the laughs and the tears I felt like I was talking to a friend. I have become such a stronger person and I am now so much more aware of how to handle situations that arise. You really unravelled my problems and allowed me to understand why I feel certain ways in situations. Your sessions have honestly been life changing for me, during a time in which I thought I was fighting a losing battle. From the bottom of my heart, thank you!’

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
