About me
I have been practising Art Psychotherapy for over 5 years with both adults and young people. My approach is attachment and trauma focused and I have experience working with many symptoms associated with trauma and attachment such as anxiety, low mood, depression, self-harm, hyper-vigilance, emotional dysregulation, anger and dissociation, which may arise from events such as loss, bereavement, physical, emotional, psychological or sexual abuse.
I practice both in-person and online, from a space in Teesside and across the North East of England.
Training, qualifications & experience
I am an experienced, thoughtful, reliable, open and approachable Art Therapist based in Teesside. I am registered with the Health and care professions council (HCPC), as well as being a member of the British Association of Art Therapists (BAAT). I abide by these organisations' codes of professional and ethical conduct and I am fully insured and hold a DBS certificate.
Member organisations
school Registered / Accredited
Being registered/accredited with a professional body means an individual must have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by their member organisation.

The HCPC are an independent, UK-wide health regulator. They set standards of professional training, performance and conduct for 16 professions.
They keep a register of health professionals who meet their standards, and they take action if registered health professionals fall below those standards. They were created by a piece of legislation called the Health Professions Order 2001.
Registration means that a health professional meets national standards for their professional training, performance and conduct.

Further information
As a therapist I offer my clients a non judgemental space that can help to creatively explore and talk about life events past or present. Through building meaningful therapeutic relationships with my clients I help to facilitate new perspectives that will bring about a sense of acceptance or even re-evaluate situations or feelings to help people to identify and work through their problems.
At the heart of my work, I value individuals and I work in a person centred way. This means I will adapt my skills and the way I work to my client's needs and listen to the client to understand what is needed from art therapy sessions.
I am passionate about being individually creative and believe that learning or developing a creative skill or creative identity can improve mental health as well as improving inner wellbeing. I personally enjoy creative activities and use a range of art mediums such as painting and sculpture but also enjoy other crafts and the outdoors.
