About me

There are times when life can be difficult to navigate. In these moments you may need someone to be there to listen, to provide time and space solely for you.

I provide a safe and confidential space in which to support and guide you. Together we can explore any difficulties you may be facing, whether these be historical events from past, or from the present moment.

After a brief chat on the phone to establish I am able to help with the reasons that bring you to counselling, we would arrange a 30 minute assessment session. Here, we can get to know one another a bit more and ensure I am the right counsellor for you. We may also establish specific areas that you would initially like to look at and decide how often our sessions will be. These will usually be at the same time each week for a set period, at which point we will then reassess. However, I appreciate that this is not always practical so together we can work out a schedule that works.

I see my role as helping you find your own resolutions and new perspectives, and perhaps a different way of coping with and viewing experiences. At times this may be challenging, but I will be there to guide and keep you safe. I will not tell you what you should do, but I will challenge your current path, if it seems appropriate, and encourage you to explore alternatives.

I will encourage you to look at how you are feeling, your behaviour, and your thoughts, and how these influence each other. My aim is to help you live in the present, to identify how you are in the moment and learn to recognise signs that you are slipping back into old, perhaps less helpful, patterns.

I offer stand alone sessions, as well as short and long term therapy.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
