About me

My name is Kim, and I am a person-centred counsellor. I currently see clients face to face from a room in the centre of Broadstone and also work online. Do you feel like life is an uphill battle? Feel that you are no good or that there is something wrong with you or the way you feel? Would you like to feel better, calmer and happier? I have experience in supporting clients in finding ways to cope, feel better about themselves, and move forwards in a way that feels right for them.

Training, qualifications & experience

CPCAB Level 4 Diploma in Therapeutic Counselling
CPCAB Level 2 & 3 Counselling
CBT-E Eating Disorder Practitioner
Eating Disorder Awareness Diploma
BACP/Open University Counselling Online.

I began working with clients in 2019 and worked at a private counselling agency with problems such as abuse in childhood, grief, trauma, relationship problems and life crisis. I also worked with clients through the YMCA with problems including domestic abuse, depression and anxiety, loss and low self-esteem. For the past year I have worked at a private eating disorders clinic and continue to do so alongside running my private practice.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Accredited register membership

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.

Further information

Perhaps you need a space to talk about what is going on for you without judgement or advice. A place to off load, explore and gain understanding. Maybe you would like to feel clearer about why you feel or behave a certain way. Sometimes we just need to be heard, to tell our story and release the burden of everything we have been carrying alone. Counselling can provide a safe and supportive space to explore difficult feelings and events. I can help you move from a place where life feels daunting and over whelming to a place where you feel more able to cope with the challenges and hurdles that life has put in your path.

There are many reasons why someone may reach out for support in the form of counselling. I recognise that it can be a difficult decision choosing a counsellor, so I offer the first session at a reduced rate of £20. This initial appointment can be a chance for us to get to know each other a little bit, explore what has brought you to counselling and talk about how counselling may be able to help. I understand that everyone is different and so their needs from counselling will be unique. I will always strive to work with this in mind.
