About me

Heartbreak can be a very difficult experience regardless of the length of your relationship or the story behind the break-up. It can leave us with feelings of rejection, intense sadness, fear, anger, guilt or anxiety.

Sitting with these emotions can be difficult and counselling can give you a chance to explore those feelings along with someone else, to talk about your experience without any filter and to identify what you need in order to heal.

Maybe you just need a neutral person to talk your feelings through with and to be able to talk openly without fear of judgement or worry of over-sharing.

I also work with people who want to build their confidence and self-esteem. There can be a number of reasons, including a break-up, why you are feeling a loss of your confidence, increased anxiety or a loss of your sense of self. This can really impact on how you are able to engage with others and how you feel within yourself. It can be frustrating, limiting and give you a sense of sadness or loneliness.

Through working with compassion, my aim is for clients to really feel heard so that they have the space to get back in touch with themselves again and to develop self-acceptance. We  look at resources that you have within to support yourself and look at ways to build confidence and self-esteem so that you can better manage self-doubt and anxiety.

Training, qualifications & experience

I hold an Advanced diploma in Psychotherapeutic Counselling. My training is in Integrative Counselling which explores elements of a range of counselling techniques including Person-Centred, Psychodynamic and CBT.  I use this with the aim to find a balance for the client in looking at the past, present and future.

Before beginning my private practice, I have had clinical experience within CrossReach Perinatal department working with women who were experiencing trauma and anxiety in the postnatal period of their lives with the transition into motherhood and the extended impact on their self-esteem and their relationships.

I have also had clinical experience working in the Student Services Team at Queen Margaret University where I worked with students seeking short-term counselling with wide range of presenting issues and in particular around stress and anxiety.

In addition to my counselling qualification and experience, I hold a qualification as a Health Coach which guides my counselling work towards considering the intrinsic link between the body and the mind and how factors such as sleep patterns, relationships, movement and stress can impact.

I have experience in working with clients both long-term and short-term. The client will have full control over how long they would like the counselling journey to run. It may be that this is stated from the onset or it is left open-ended, meaning that the client can ask for a review at any time or let me know when they feel they would like to end the counselling journey.
