About me

Hello, I'm an experienced counsellor  who's committed to and genuinely cares about helping people gain the most out of therapy to improve their wellbeing and happiness.

Everyone faces difficulties in life that impact on our well-being and happiness, in counselling sessions we can focus on your increased self-understanding, and acceptance, which can help you navigate your own way through challenges, find better ways to understand yourself, or to bring about positive changes.

I have experience and expertise working with, but not limited to, anxiety, stress, depression, bereavement and loss, self confidence, self harm, trauma, issues of eating and weight/shape distress, Neurodiversity (including autism, ADHD, dyslexia) .

Therapy sessions will be based around  your individual needs and goals for your therapy. My main areas of training and practice include:

Diploma in Person Centred Therapeutic Counselling -This therapy focuses on counselling relationship to facilitate people's self-discovery and growth. The counsellor demonstrates what is known as the core conditions, creating a safe and supportive environment where you can explore your thoughts and feelings:

Diploma in CBT  - Cognitive Behavioural Therapy is a type of counselling that helps people identify and challenge negative thought patterns and overcome these by changing their thinking and behaviour. It's often used to treat anxiety but can be help with a variety of other issues.

Practitioner in Eating Disorders -specialist training in issues of eating and weight/shape distress through the National Centre for Eating Disorders. This therapy involves a structured therapeutic approach, firstly exploring your history around eating and body image; then identifying your current thinking and patterns of behaviour related to this; next, making plans of actionable changes that will lead towards gaining a more healthy relationship with food and body image.

People regularly feedback that they feel 'lighter' and 'more positive' right from our first therapy session. Here is some of things people have said about their therapy with me:

"Kelly helped me to think differently about the situation and also about myself which helped me when I was faced with triggers. I've learned lots of strategies which I can apply to daily situations when needed and I now feel so much more in control"

"The way we talk always make me see things differently so I can understand how I can change the way I think and act."

"I love my therapy sessions. I look forward to them and leave feeling so much stronger."

"I  always feel heard, understood and accepted and that helps me feel so much better about myself and my ability to cope."

"The difference it's made to my life in such a short time is absolutely priceless."

I am always happy to speak to people through a no cost/obligation 15-20 minute call, where we’ll look at where you are now , what you’re struggling with and where you want to be to help us understand your needs and goals  and any questions you might have so you can decide if it's right for you before booking an appointment.

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
