About me

I’m Kaya, I am a qualified counsellor offering face-to-face therapy in Sidcup, as well as online and telephone counselling across the UK. I provide a warm, supportive, and non-judgemental space where you can explore whatever is bringing you to therapy.

I aim to create an environment that feels safe, honest, and accepting, where you can speak openly and feel truly heard.

My main approach is person-centred counselling, which means I believe that every individual has the capacity for growth and change when offered the right conditions and support. Alongside this, I work integratively, drawing on elements from different therapeutic approaches where appropriate to meet your individual needs.

No two people are the same, and I believe therapy should reflect this. Together, we can find a way of working that feels right for you and your circumstances.

My experience includes supporting carers, including those caring for family members with physical health conditions, disabilities, mental health difficulties, and additional support needs. While caring for others can be deeply rewarding, it can also bring feelings of exhaustion, isolation, guilt, grief, and a loss of identity. Therapy can provide a space where your own needs are acknowledged, explored, and valued.

Alongside my professional experience, I also have lived experience of caregiving and neurodiversity. These experiences have given me a deeper understanding of the complexities, responsibilities, and emotional impact that can accompany caring roles, as well as the challenges of navigating a world that is not always designed with neurodivergent people in mind.

While these are areas of particular interest, I welcome clients from all backgrounds and support people with a wide range of concerns.

I am committed to making counselling as accessible as possible and may be able to offer reduced-fee spaces for students and those on lower incomes.

Finding the right counsellor is an important step, and I understand that reaching out can feel daunting. If you would like to discuss how we might work together, I would be happy to hear from you.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
