About Counselling First & EMDR Centre
Counselling First and EMDR Centre offers a confidential, non-judgmental environment to help you find solutions to the issues you may be experiencing. Taking this first step was probably pretty scary and may have caused some upset, but reaching out is the beginning of feeling better and counselling can help you. It is estimated that 1 in 6 people in the past week experienced a common mental health problem such as anxiety, depression, panic, sadness, trauma. Counselling First & EMDR Centre works using many different types of therapy thus allowing a tailored plan for each person. I am experienced in online and face to face sessions.
Why Choose Kay?
I have over 20 years of experience and have qualified to postgraduate level. I am very experienced in working with individuals, couples and young adults 16+.I integrate many different approaches and will undertake assessments to find the best path for you.
My specialist area is helping with all types of trauma and PTSD and this may be sexual abuse, domestic violence or emotional abuse, childhood neglect, including bullying in children or experiencing a particularly difficult event such as a car crash or seeing someone die or feel that you have been threatened and you thought you may die. I am trained to help you with all the aftermath of such trauma/abuse which often leads to low self-esteem, sadness, depression, anxiety, suicidal thoughts and difficulty with relationships. Even if you have not experienced trauma you still may have depression, anxiety or relationship problems or low self-esteem and I can help you to overcome these issues.
I also offer single sessions if you feel you would like to have a professional to listen to your upset and help you explore your problem

I am also happy to accept EAP referrals.

Member organisations
BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
