About me

* Special Note: I am available to take on new online clients worldwide.*

If you're reading this, life may feel overwhelming right now. You may be struggling with anxiety, trauma, loneliness, relationship difficulties, low mood, or simply feeling that you've lost yourself. Whatever has brought you here, you don't have to face it alone.

My name is Kay Choudary, and I am an experienced Integrative Psychotherapist, EMDR Practitioner, Flash EMDR Practitioner and qualified Traumatologist. For more than 20 years, I have had the privilege of helping people move beyond emotional pain and towards a life that feels calmer, happier and more fulfilling.

I believe that every person has their own story. There is no "one size fits all" approach to therapy, which is why I tailor every session to you, your experiences and your goals. Whether you are looking for short-term support or longer-term therapy, we will work together at a pace that feels safe and comfortable.

How I Can Help
Many of the people I work with have spent months or even years trying to cope on their own before reaching out. Together we can explore difficulties including:

  • Trauma and PTSD
    Childhood trauma and neglect
    Sexual abuse
    Domestic and emotional abuse
    Anxiety and panic attacks
    Depression and low mood
    Low self-esteem and confidence
    Relationship difficulties
    Bereavement and loss
    Stress and burnout
    Life transitions
    Suicidal thoughts
    Bullying and its long-term impact

Trauma can affect every part of life, often leaving you feeling stuck, constantly on edge, overwhelmed or disconnected. Using approaches such as EMDR, Flash EMDR and integrative psychotherapy, I help clients process painful experiences so they no longer feel controlled by the past.

You don't need to have experienced trauma to benefit from therapy. Sometimes life simply becomes difficult, and having someone experienced, compassionate and impartial beside you can make all the difference.

A Therapy Tailored to You
As an Integrative Psychotherapist, I combine a range of therapeutic approaches, selecting the methods that best meet your needs rather than expecting you to fit one particular model.

Our work together may include approaches such as Person-Centred Therapy, Psychodynamic Therapy, Transactional Analysis, CBT-based techniques, Gestalt, EMDR, Flash EMDR and other evidence-based interventions. Every therapy plan is created around you.

Specialist Experience
Alongside my private practice, I have extensive experience working in education with both young people and adults and currently teach the next generation of counsellors as a CPCAB counselling tutor.

I also have a lot of experience  in bariatric psychotherapy, supporting individuals before and after weight loss surgery. Having worked as the Senior Psychotherapist for Tonic Weight Loss Surgery for over six years, I understand the emotional challenges that can accompany significant weight loss and changing relationships with food.

I also welcome Employee Assistance Programme (EAP) referrals.

Unsure Whether Counselling Is Right for You?
Choosing a therapist is a personal decision, and it's important that you feel comfortable with the person you are talking to.

You're very welcome to contact me for an informal telephone conversation before booking. This gives you the opportunity to ask questions, explain what has brought you to therapy, and decide whether I feel like the right therapist for you.

There is absolutely no pressure and no obligation to book.

Sometimes one conversation is all it takes to begin moving towards the life you want. If you're ready to take that first step, I'd be honoured to walk alongside you.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
