Therapeutic Counsellor (MBACP)

About me

We can all reach times in our lives when we feel lost, stuck or overwhelmed. Sometimes we can struggle to find a way to move forward and life might feel like an uphill battle.

We may feel unsettled, trapped or at a loss, that whatever we do is just never good enough, and it can often lead us to think one common thought..."what is wrong with me?"

When we are unable to make sense of things, we can easily lose sight of who we truly are and our own needs and wants. We may feel disconnected from ourselves and others and establishing and maintaining relationships can become challenging and hard work.

It can be difficult to piece together why we feel, think and behave the way we do and overtime it can become exhausting living with confusing and conflicting thoughts and feelings.

Loneliness, fear, rejection, sadness, dissatisfaction, anger, frustration, guilt, shame and resentment are just a small number of emotions that we can feel and want to push away.

If we don't understand or learn where our feelings come from; how are we meant to process them and move foward?

Whether it is something from your past or present that is causing you to feel the way you do, or something about the future that is troubling you, I am here to support you. On the other hand, you may feel you have no idea what it is that's unsettling you and you are unsure of where to begin. No matter the answer I am here to listen and help you find your way.

Therapy can help empower you to find your own answers and solutions from within, gain more clarity, resilience and self-confidence, overcome deep rooted beliefs of yourself and others and re-connect with your inner self.

If you want to prevent burnout and feel happier, more fulfilled and in control of your life, or you just simply want to make sense of things, then therapy may be the right path for you.

How I work

I am a fully qualified and insured counsellor and psychotherapist, focusing my work in the person-centred approach, whilst drawing upon my knowledge of humanistic modalities.

It is important to me that you feel valued, heard and accepted and I will create a relationship with you free from judgment and expectation. Whilst offering you kindness and compassion, I will provide a safe, empathic and confidential space in which you can freely and openly explore any difficulties that you may be facing.

In a calm and welcoming environment, I can give you the time and support needed to help you understand yourself on a deeper level, so you can begin to self-heal and grow.

I appreciate that it can be daunting to reach out for help and it is my job to ensure you feel comfortable during the whole process. The pace and depth of therapy will be centred on your needs, with the sessions being led by you.

Member organisations

BACP

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Alongside private practice, I also work in the Health and Social Care sector as a Health Care Assistant and have cared for people of all ages both within the home and hospital environment. I have a good understanding around the connection between physical and mental health and have supported individuals, both emotionally and physically, during challenging times in their lives.

I have witnessed how impactful being a full or part time carer can be on a person’s mental health and wellbeing and recognise the complicated feelings involved when caring for a loved one.
