About me

Hi, I'm Katie and thanks for visiting my page.

Let's face it, life can (and often does) get messy, and it can be filled with a whole mix of challenges, issues and complications. Our experiences can lead us to moments in life where we can feel lost and lonely with it all and we may have a feeling that something needs to change but are of unsure of where to begin.

There is an endless list of the ways you can feel at any one time in your life. The issues I work with include, but are not limited to, anxiety; depression; relationship difficulties and breakdown; child and adulthood trauma; sexual abuse and violence; a loss of direction or identity; work related issues; bereavement; low self-esteem and self-confidence; self-harm; physical/mental health conditions.

As your therapist, I will sit side by side with you in a safe and calming space, helping you work towards gaining a better sense of self. I will support you in deepening your self-awareness, helping you to understand more clearly the different parts of yourself which may be impacting upon your ability to manage your mental health, emotions, relationships and daily life in a more healthy and balanced way.

Whilst offering you kindness and compassion, I will provide an empathic and confidential space in which you can freely and openly explore any difficulties you may be facing.  I will work collaboratively with you to build a genuine and trusting relationship free from judgment and expectation. Working with me may be the start of your journey towards self growth, healing and change. You don't have to just 'get on with it' anymore. It's OK to talk.

Therapy can help empower you to find your own answers and solutions from within, gain more clarity, resilience and self-confidence, overcome deep rooted beliefs of yourself and others and re-connect with your authentic self.

If you want to prevent burnout and feel happier, more fulfilled and in control of your life, or you just simply want to make sense of things, then therapy may be the right path for you.

After our first meeting, my aim is to leave you feeling valued and heard. I offer both short and long term counselling, checking in with regular reviews to reflect upon progress and development, with the pace and depth of therapy being centred on your individual needs.

Whether it is something from your past, present or future, or you are unsure of where to begin, then get in touch and let's find out together.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Further information

My work history involves having varied roles working within the beauty industry for 6 years and in the health and social care sector for 5 and half years. Having worked in health and social care for several years, I have cared for people of all ages and backgrounds both within the home and hospital environment. I have gained a good understanding around the connection between physical and mental health and well-being, and have supported individuals, both emotionally and physically, during very challenging times in their lives, including palliative care.

I have witnessed how impactful being a full or part time carer can be on a person’s mental health and wellbeing and recognise the complicated feelings involved when caring for a loved one.
