About me
Hello and welcome, my name is Kathryn. I am a fully qualified and BACP registered psychotherapist providing counselling and psychotherapy in Buckinghamshire and online. I have many years of experience working with a wide range of clients, and I have gained particular expertise in working with neurodiversity. My practice is Neuroaffirming, many of my clients are autistic, have ADHD, or are AuDHD, and I strive to create a comfortable and inclusive environment for all.
My therapeutic style is warm and relational, taking the whole person into account and inviting change through developing awareness of your self in its entirety. Whilst I have developed an integrative therapeutic practice, my core training is in Gestalt therapy - Gestalt is a humanistic talking therapy, from the same family as other talking therapies which may sound more familiar, such as Person-Centred. Gestalt loosely translates as 'whole', meaning that our work together will be holistic, taking into account mind, body, emotions and spirit. Many of my clients come to me having had previous therapy which didn't feel like a great fit, or where it felt like some pieces of the puzzle were missing, and find that they are able to gain greater insight with a talking therapy that invites exploration of their whole self.
I believe that we all have the ability to live rich and fulfilling lives, but sometimes we may lose our way. Whether you are feeling stuck and unhappy, a life-changing event has left you feeling at sea, or you simply need someone to talk to, I offer a safe and non-judgemental space in which to explore, come to a greater awareness of yourself, and invite the possibility of something different.
Training, qualifications & experience
I hold a Postgraduate Diploma in Gestalt Therapy from the renowned Metanoia Institute, and have undertaken additional post-qualification training in working with neurodiversity. I have worked with clients in various different settings for many years - at MCPS in Ealing, Hemel Psychotherapy Practice in Hemel Hempstead, in private practice in both Beaconsfield and Prestwood, and now from my dedicated therapy rooms in High Wycombe. I hold full professional insurance and am a fully qualified and registered member of the BACP. I abide by the rules and ethics of the BACP, and regularly engage in CPD (continuous professional development).
In addition, I also hold an LLB in Law from Durham University, graduating in 2009.
Member organisations
BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
Accredited register membership
The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
