About me
Life can present us with many challenges, and sometimes we may struggle to manage or feel stuck. This can lead to excessive worrying, anxiety, rumination, low self-esteem and low mood, affecting our sense of identity and preventing us living the life we want. It is normal to have some bad days, but sometimes, if these feelings persist, we may feel unsure as to how to move forward. Seeking support is the first step towards making a positive change. Whatever has brought you to seek counselling, whether it’s feeling stuck, anxious, low or perhaps a desire for better self-understanding, I can help you gain some clarity and make sense of what is going on, enabling you to make changes and move forward
If this resonates with you, then speaking to a therapist in a confidential and supportive environment could help make your difficulties seem a little more manageable.
I’m an accredited cognitive behavioural therapist with a background of over 30 years in general nursing.
With CBT, I can help you understand and navigate your problems. I work by supporting you to increase your awareness; by helping you make links between the past and the present, and understand the connection between how you think, feel and behave. We can then look at providing you with tools and techniques to help encourage more helpful thoughts and behaviours which will allow you to move forward.
CBT has been heavily proven to be help low mood, anxiety disorders, panic and other difficulties
Together, we will look at what brought you to therapy, and what’s affecting you right now. We can explore past experiences that might still be influencing your present, and set goals around the changes you'd like to make, before agreeing on the most appropriate treatment plan to help you feel better and move forward.
My approach is, compassionate, friendly and empathetic, and my background in nursing also gives some added value. In therapy we will work together to try and make sense of what is going on for you at a level and pace that you are comfortable with, so we can then work out a treatment plan that is right for you.
My aim is to teach you to be your own therapist…..
Training, qualifications & experience
I hold a post graduate diploma in CBT and group work. I have been seeing clients for over 4 years. I am an Accredited member of the BABCP and I attend various certificated CPD events to expand and update my knowledge. I have regular supervision to ensure I deliver safe and effective therapy, and my background as a registered general nurse has also enhanced my practice.
I have experience in treating clients who may be struggling with low self-esteem, general anxiety, excessive worry, social anxiety, health anxiety and panic attacks. I have a special interest in supporting women experiencing symptoms of perimenopause and menopause.
