About me

Hello, my name is Kathy, and I am a professionally qualified couples and individuals counsellor. I am a registered member and accredited by the British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy.

In these challenging times I see many clients struggling to make sense of their thoughts and feelings. Perhaps you find it increasingly difficult to communicate effectively in your relationship and with others?  A frequent sense of feeling overwhelmed can prevent us from making informed decisions.

However, when we learn to unburden our thoughts and feelings we can start to learn how to let go and change our personal world to help feel less fearful and more in control.

If this is you, and you are trying to cope but feeling more anxious and depressed as time goes on, let me reassure you that there is help and support, you are not alone. During these difficult times it can feel immensely lonely trying to work through your thoughts and feeling at a confusing crossroad.

I provide a calm and reflective space where you can talk about whatever is on your mind.  Together we will explore what is going on for you to help make sense of your issues, enabling you to cope and take control.

It is important you feel I am the right person for you and that our relational fit works to support your counselling journey.  Having the sense of complete permission to express yourself and feel encouraged to explore whatever you might be holding on to, without judgment.

My practice provide a secure and safe environment for you to develop and challenge your inner critic.

Believe in yourself, you are the true expert of yourself.  I will facilitate and help to support you to embrace taking control of your destiny.  I will walk alongside you and guide you through with encouragement to help you reach your goals, with new perspective to let go of negativity and embrace your true self.

We learn not from the things that we get right, but our imperfections, which allow us to develop and grow without comparison to others.

Feel free to contact me by email, text or telephone so that we can talk about where you might be struggling and what you hope to achieve from counselling.

Registered / Accredited

Registered / Accredited

Being registered/accredited with a professional body means an individual must have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by their member organisation.

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
