About me
There are many different reasons for people seeking counselling or therapy sessions. You may be experiencing difficulties associated with anxiety, depression, low self-esteem, menopause, bereavement, infertility, stress, post-natal depression, or trauma. You may feel stuck, lost or overwhelmed by past or present events. You may feel that you’re trapped in the same unfulfilling relationships or patterns. You may not know what you need help with but feel that something needs to change. If you are struggling in any of these areas, I can help. I am an experienced, Chartered Counselling Psychologist with more than a decade’s experience of working within the NHS and I am here to help you move forward with your life and create long lasting, meaningful change.
Training, qualifications & experience
As a Counselling Psychologist, I integrate aspects of more than one model of psychological theory. I draw on cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT), Psychodynamic theory and MBT (mentalization based therapy) and the type of psychotherapeutic interventions I use, depends on the ‘problem area’ you bring and how you would like us to address it. We can discuss what these therapeutic approaches mean, the differences between them and the type(s) that might be most suitable for you when we meet. The most important thing to remember is that I offer therapy that is tailored to meet your unique, individual needs bearing in mind what has and hasn’t been helpful in the past. We will work together to help you achieve your goals. My approach is warm, empathic and non-judgemental and I have a strict confidentiality policy.
Member organisations
school Registered / Accredited
Being registered/accredited with a professional body means an individual must have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by their member organisation.
The HCPC are an independent, UK-wide health regulator. They set standards of professional training, performance and conduct for 16 professions.
They keep a register of health professionals who meet their standards, and they take action if registered health professionals fall below those standards. They were created by a piece of legislation called the Health Professions Order 2001.
Registration means that a health professional meets national standards for their professional training, performance and conduct.
