About me
Making the decision to start therapy is a courageous one. If you’re thinking about therapy, you already recognise the need for someone to talk to about the difficulties you are experiencing. It can be challenging, but therapy can help you make sense of your life, be transformative and help you better understand your relationship with yourself and others.
Central to my practice is the quality of the therapeutic relationship between the client and therapist, and the belief that the client knows what is best to bring about the change and growth they are looking for. My aim is to work with you in a responsive, collaborative and compassionate way. And by providing a space that feels open and respectful, help you process and explore the difficulties you are experiencing.
I am based in central Edinburgh and work with adults who are experiencing a broad range of difficulties, including relationship difficulties, anxiety, abuse, anger, depression, loss and grief, identity issues, addiction, chronic illness, and trauma.
Training, qualifications & experience
My background is in biosciences and before becoming a therapist I worked in range of technical and management roles for a number organisations in the voluntary and private sector, focusing on health, safety and well-being.
My counselling training includes gestalt and psychodynamic approaches, before qualifying in Person Centred Counselling and Psychotherapy from the University of Strathclyde in Glasgow.
I am a registered member of the BACP (British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy) and abide by their code of ethics as part of my commitment to best practice. I am also a qualified counselling supervisor and work with other practitioners to reflect on best practice, ethics and professional development.
I have a full time counselling and supervision practice based in Edinburgh city centre. I work in person or online.
Member organisations

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
Accredited register membership

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
