About me
If anxiety makes everyday life feel overwhelming, you’re not alone
Choosing to start counselling can sometimes feel like a huge leap of faith; equally, the outcomes can be greatly rewarding.
Working with a counsellor can empower you by enhancing your awareness of your personal experiences, current or past, equipping you with the tools needed to foster growth and navigate life's challenges effectively.
As a humanistic counsellor, I aim to provide this for individuals by fostering self-awareness and personal growth in a safe and supportive environment. My approach emphasises exploring current thoughts and feelings, at times reflecting on similar patterns from past experiences and helping you connect with your authentic self.
Together, we will tailor our work to your unique needs, whether you are facing anxiety, relationship challenges, or personal transitions.
By building a trusting therapeutic relationship, I encourage openness and self-compassion, guiding you toward meaningful change. If you're ready to embark on a journey of self-discovery and fulfilment, I invite you to reach out.
Training, qualifications & experience
I have over 12 years of experience working with individuals in 1:1 settings.
I have worked in addiction services for many years supporting people around their health and wellbeing whilst guiding them through the process of managing their addictive behaviours.
Many of the people I have supported over the years have struggled with diagnosed or undiagnosed mental health issues and/or experiencing neurodiversity.
I am registered with the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) trained at Bachelor of Science in Humanistic Counselling and Diploma level for Humanistic Counselling with Middlesex University and Metanoia Institute.
Throughout my career I endeavour to continue learning and evolving using regular training to stay up to date as information changes over time.
Some of the training that I update yearly is:
- Safeguarding levels 1,2 and 3
- Equality, Diversity and Inclusion Awareness
- Substance Misuse
- GDPR- Handling Information Awareness
- Suicide Awareness
- Autism Awareness
Member organisations
BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
Accredited register membership
The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
