Supervisor, Child and Adolescent Psychotherapist MBACP, ACTO

About me

I am an experienced child and adolescent therapist and supervisor who is registered with the BACP and ACTO. I specialise in working with young people aged between 4 and 25 years old. I also supervise other therapists working with young people.

I am passionate about supporting young people, their families and carers. I provide online and in person counselling in a safe, non judgemental and friendly space. Enabling a young person to explore their thoughts and feelings, taking time to work through any challenges they may be facing. I also work with parents and carers providing coaching skills and support.

In this process, I work integratively, drawing upon my broad training skills as a qualified child and adolescent therapist and supervisor. Adapting and listening to the needs of the client, I may take elements from Cognitive behavioural therapy, Habit reversal therapy, Dialectical behaviour therapy, Play Therapy and Sand story therapy, allowing me to work creatively and intuitively to the needs of the young person.

For online counselling, I use secure online platforms. This enables young people to access support from the comfort of their own home or whilst they may be away from home. I also provide face to face work from my counselling rooms in Chiswick, West London.

Working with parents and carers, I also offer a bespoke coaching programme. Whether it is a standalone session or more structured, consistent support you are looking for; taking time to reflect and listen to the issues and concerns you may be facing, we discuss strategies and develop skills to best support your needs, together.

I am also qualified to work with adoption.

Training, qualifications & experience

I have had considerable training to become an experienced child and adolescent therapist and supervisor. Studying at Birkbeck, Metanoia, Leeds Beckett, The Grove, SDS and The Albany Centre. I achieved distinction level across all my core trainings and enjoy learning new skills in my continued professional development.

I have led successful counselling services in primary and secondary schools, co-set up an emotional well being service in a youth centre, co-wrote a successful parent coaching programme and run my own private practice.

I also work with external services such as CAMHS, Social Services, Educational Psychologists, Occupational Therapists and Speech and Language teams.

I have an enhanced DBS, attend regular supervision and I continue to further my skills with appropriate CPD.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Additional information

Finding the right therapist is very important. I offer a free 15 minute initial phone call or Zoom with the young person, parent or carer. This not only provides an opportunity to meet each other and ask any questions, it also enables me to assess if online counselling is appropriate for the young persons needs.

Once we have contracted, I can offer short or long term work.

Further information

Outside of my practice, I currently volunteer for Smartworks and the Kings Trust, having previously volunteered for Tourette's Action. I have a keen interest in the arts. I enjoy being in nature, whether it be walking or bodyboarding in the sea.
