About me
I am a qualified and experienced UKCP and BACP registered Psychotherapeutic Counsellor, Psychotherapist, Certified Transactional Analyst (European Association for Transactional Analysis) and Executive Coach. I trained in Transactional Analysis Psychotherapy at the Metanoia Institute in London and in Relational Coaching at Ashridge Business School. Before becoming a psychotherapist, I worked for over 30 years in international diplomacy and education overseas.
While working as a workplace coach, I noticed how often my coaching clients raised concerns that were of a very personal nature and which got in the way of their relationships and their work. I felt inadequate to address these and took them to supervision. I noted that my supervisors were mostly psychotherapists and were able to provide a more in-depth understanding of what might be going on beneath the surface of. the issues that clients raised. So I embarked on the five-year training to qualify as a Psychotherapist, Psychotherapeutic Counsellor and Certified Transactional Analyst.
After moving, recently, from London to North Wales, I now work mostly online and by telephone, across the UK, and offer Psychotherapy, Counselling, Life Coaching, and Workplace Coaching. I offer a safe and confidential space to explore your concerns. I work with individuals, couples, and pairs of friends or relatives. You may wish to explore:
- what is keeping you stuck in unhelpful patterns of relating, whether at home, among friends, or in the workplace;
- why you feel unhappy, fearful, anxious, depressed or unfulfilled;
- why you feel confused and uncertain about changes of direction in your life due to the break-up of relationships, loss and bereavement, workplace challenges and changes, or other events impacting you;
- why you feel stressed all the time;
- what stops you achieving what you want in life;
- why you keep having having negative thoughts or lack self-esteem.
Often, patterns of feeling and behaviour are set in early childhood and are not in conscious awareness. Together, we will explore the beliefs you hold about yourself and others, where these beliefs originated, what survival methods you may have cultivated unconsciously, which negative feelings or experiences keep repeating themselves, and how you have developed a life script which forms the basis of your feelings, thoughts and beliefs. We will work together to bring these feelings, thoughts and beliefs into conscious awareness so that you may test out their validity and challenge them in order to bring about change.

school Registered / Accredited
Being registered/accredited with a professional body means an individual must have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by their member organisation.
The UK Council for Psychotherapy (UKCP) is a leading professional body for the education, training and regulation of psychotherapists and psychotherapeutic counsellors. Its register is accredited by the government's Professional Standards Authority.
As part of its commitment to protect the public, it works to improve access to psychotherapy, to support and disseminate research, to improve standards and to respond effectively to complaints against its members.
UKCP standards cover the range of different psychotherapies. Registration is obtained by training or accrediting with one of its member organisations, or by holding a European Certificate in Psychotherapy. Accredited by the Professional Standards Authority.
BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
