About me
I am a qualified psychodynamic counsellor and BACP-registered practitioner with experience providing individual therapy to adults presenting with a wide range of emotional and relational difficulties. I currently work as a counsellor at Highgate Counselling Centre alongside my private practice, where I provide longer-term psychotherapy in both English and Polish.
My core therapeutic orientation is psychodynamic, with an emphasis on understanding how early experiences, relationships and unconscious patterns can influence a person's emotional life, relationships and ways of coping in the present. I also integrate elements of Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) and Gestalt therapy where appropriate, allowing me to respond flexibly to the individual needs of each client.
I have experience working with anxiety, depression, low mood, bereavement and loss, relationship difficulties, low self-esteem, loneliness, identity and belonging, life transitions, self-harm and suicidal thoughts. I am comfortable working with clients experiencing significant emotional distress while maintaining clear therapeutic boundaries and appropriate attention to risk and safeguarding.
I place particular importance on the therapeutic relationship. My style is warm, compassionate and engaged, while also encouraging reflection and exploration. I aim to provide a safe, non-judgemental environment in which clients can develop greater self-awareness, understand recurring patterns and gradually find more helpful ways of relating to themselves and others.
Training, qualifications & experience
I hold a Diploma in Psychodynamic Counselling from Highgate Counselling Centre and am a registered member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP). I also completed a Foundation Certificate in Couple Counselling and Psychotherapy at Tavistock Relationships and have undertaken further professional training through The Gestalt Centre London.
I am currently undertaking a four-year psychotherapy training programme, which is further developing my integrative clinical practice. My continuing professional development includes psychodynamic psychotherapy, ACT, Gestalt and other relational and contemporary approaches.
My clinical experience includes both organisational and private-practice settings, providing regular one-to-one psychotherapy to adults and working with both shorter- and longer-term therapeutic relationships. I currently combine my work at Highgate Counselling Centre with my independent private practice.
Prior to training as a therapist, I completed a Master's degree in Theology and a Bachelor's degree in English and worked for seven years as a teacher. This experience has contributed to my ability to work sensitively with people from different backgrounds and to my particular interest in identity, relationships, values, meaning and belonging.
I am committed to ethical and reflective practice and undertake weekly clinical supervision, alongside regular CPD and ongoing psychotherapy training.
Member organisations
BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
Accredited register membership
The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
