Dip CBT, B Ed Hons, COSCA Accredited and Yoga Therapist

About me

I am a fully qualified COSCA accredited CBT Therapist.

I am also an adult trainer for individuals undertaking the COSCA Counselling Skills Course and the Cognitive Behaviour Therapy Diploma.

I help individuals with issues such as low self-esteem, social anxiety, self-criticism, intrusive thoughts and negative beliefs about inadequacy and failure that often lead to symptoms of depression. I have an understanding of how individuals navigate their learning and lifestyles when dealing with ADHD, Autism and Aspergers for example.

With 20 years of teaching in primary schools, working with parents, other professionals and peers, I have developed a strong foundation in these areas.

I have counselled children in the primary and secondary setting therefore I have experience of this age group. Doctors and healthcare providers are referring this age group, but the waiting lists are increasing. In addition, teachers and health care workers are also seeking counselling as a result.

I am also a yoga therapist who combines 'strengthening the body and mind together'.

I provide a supportive, safe and non-judgmental space where individuals can feel heard and comfortable opening up. I offer Cognitive Behaviour Therapy with elements of a person-centred approach. However, I always adapt to suit the needs of each individual.

In each session, we explore the origins and development of the issues brought to session and incorporate mindfulness, relaxation, stress- management and breathing techniques as tools if appropriate.

Individual CBT sessions- either in person at a Glasgow City Centre location or on Zoom.

Group Therapy Sessions (2 hrs) - For example,  Anxiety with Yoga, Menopause with Yoga, Managing Stress with Yoga.

Group sessions (3 hrs) include an hour and a half CBT input on anxiety management (for example), a tea break, followed by an hour long yoga session. This takes place in a Glasgow City Centre location. I also welcome one to one therapy yoga sessions with CBT. In addition, I can come to your place of work or location to offer group sessions.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
