About me

I am a fully qualified person-centred psychotherapist and counsellor, Somatic Trauma Therapist and supervisor.

I am here to be alongside you on your therapeutic journey providing  a safe, non judgemental and confidential space.  You can use our time together to reflect on your life, any feelings/emotions which are causing you distress, your disinterest in life, confusion, sadness. worries or just not feeling like yourself.

I also have an interested in helping people who have experienced a trauma in their life ie sexual abuse, domestic abuse, bullying, an accident or near death experience.  You will be able to explore your thoughts/feelings regarding the trauma and we can weave psychoeducation into your sessions so you can also understand why you feel the way you do and how the body reacts to trauma.

Training, qualifications & experience

I completed my Degree in Person Centred Counselling at University of Cumbria in 2014 and since then I have completed various trainings which has included Babette Rothschild's Somatic Trauma Training  so I am therefore a qualified and extremely experienced counsellor and Somatic Trauma Therapist.

Since 2012 I have worked with clients who have experienced sexual and domestic abuse helping them to go from feeling a victim of the abuse, to a survivor to then thriving in their lives.  By understanding what has happened to them in the past has helped them to change how it affects them today.

I also specialise in working with people who are experiencing depression and anxiety.

I have the following:

*  Degree in Person Centred Therapy.

*  BACP register member (92760).

*  Enhanced Disclosure & Barring Service (DBS) certificate.

*  Fully insured.

*  Member of the ICO (Information Commissioners Office).

*  Attend regular clinical supervision and peer support.

* Attended a wealth of Continued Professional Development training courses around suicide, self harm, addictions, working with trauma, creative therapy, walk and talk therapy etc.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
