About me

I offer counselling for children (aged 8 and over) and young people, providing a safe, supportive space where they can explore their thoughts and feelings at their own pace.

As an integrative therapist, I tailor my work to each individual, drawing on person centred, systemic, and cognitive behavioural approaches. This means that sessions are shaped around the child or young person's needs, strengths and stage of development, rather than a one-size-fits-all model.

I support young people experiencing a range of difficulties, including anxiety, low mood and depression, emotional regulation, self-esteem, friendship and relationship issues, school-related stress, exam pressure, family change, loss and transitions. I also work with children who may struggle to express themselves verbally, using creative and age-appropriate ways to help them make sense of what they are feeling.

I have extensive experience of working with neurodivergent young people and children with additional needs, including Autism, ADHD and Down Syndrome. As someone with ADHD myself, I bring both professional and lived understanding of how challenging the world can feel when you are not neurotypical. My approach is affirming, flexible and focused on helping young people feel understood rather than 'fixed'.

Before training as a counsellor I worked with children for thirteen years, giving me a strong grounding in child development and the ability to meet children at their level of understanding.

I work in a caring, collaborative and non-judgemental way, helping children and young people to build emotional awareness, coping strategies and confidence, so they feel better equipped to manage difficulties both now and in the future.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
