About me

"The relationship you have with your therapist sets the foundation for all good work"

What you can expect

Therapy welcomes you into a space filled with patience, understanding, empathy, and freedom from judgement. Reaching out for support takes courage, especially when dealing with life's obstacles. Through therapy you can explore your emotions, recurring patterns, and behaviours, express what you are going through, and gain clarity. This process empowers you to make positive changes and healthy decisions, helping you navigate challenges with confidence and resilience.

Challenges you might be facing

Are you feeling overwhelmed with confusing or unhelpful thoughts and emotions? Perhaps you're experiencing feelings of sadness, stress, anxiety, or a sense of being stuck or lost, maybe in a low mood. Does something feel off and you can't identify what it is. Take the opportunity to explore your inner world in a safe confidential  and distraction free environment.

Counselling can also serve as a powerful tool for self-development and personal growth. By fostering greater self-awareness and insight, inner turmoil can be eased, confidence can be improved, and a greater sense of peace can be achieved. This can lead to stronger and more fulfilling relationships, at home, in the workplace and with yourself.

Why work with me?

Having suffered debilitating and painful feelings myself, where I felt stuck in a black tunnel which I couldn't get out of, and caught in unhealthy relationships causing confusion and a loss of self, I can meet you with authenticity, genuineness and empathy. There is no judgement, instead you will have a space to explore what you are experiencing and I will do my best to understand and support you by actively listening and being with you whilst trying to make sense of the confusion.

Take action

No more suffering in silence; or talking to friends and family which isn't helping. I encourage you to seek the help you need and not endure life in a place you are not enjoying - you have already made a great start by browsing counselling pages and now perhaps you are ready to make that enquiry. I will get back to you within 24 hours.

Training, qualifications & experience

Training & qualifications

Practicing for 14 years and gaining the BACP accreditation in 2017, I have gone on to do additional training in couples counselling, CBT, online & telephone counselling and safeguarding.

Experience

I work extensively with a wide range of mental health issues, including couples therapy. Before transitioning to private practice, I worked at a drug and alcohol rehabilitation clinic, facilitating both group and individual sessions for those struggling with addiction, as well as supporting their families. Poor mental health often impacts not only the individual but also their wider family circle. Relationships can become toxic, abusive, or dysfunctional, sometimes bordering on narcissistic. Healthy boundaries may be lost, leading to chaos, bitterness, and a loss of self.

Couples

Entering into couples counselling can seem daunting, as it often requires vulnerability and honesty about sensitive topics. Perhaps you've been avoiding certain conversations, or you just don't want to risk conflict at home. Sessions will provide a neutral safe space to overcome challenges, foster mutual understanding and encourage collaborative problem solving.

One person may be reluctant to attend counselling while the other is willing, it doesn’t always require both parties to participate together. Positive changes made by one individual can still have a beneficial impact on the other person and the relationship as a whole.

Additional training

I have also undergone additional training in other areas and am formally qualified in: Obesity and Weight Management, Over-eating, Binge Eating, Exercise, Nutrition and Coaching.

Registered / Accredited

Being registered/accredited with a professional body means an individual must have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by their member organisation.

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Accredited register membership

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
