MSc Therapist MBACP

About me

As an MSc qualified psychotherapist and clinical supervisor, with 15 years of experience, I provide a safe and confidential space to help you work through aspects of your life which perhaps are preventing you from moving forward. These issues may present themselves in the shape of anxiety, depression, panic attacks, or low self-esteem.

I was trained in psychodynamic therapy,  but believe the basis of any therapy is all about the relationships and patterns we unconsciously recreate, which hopefully can provide insight and clarity in your life.

I offer short term (6-12 sessions) and long term therapy for anyone who requires working through issues. I also have training in Career Coaching. In addition, I now offer Single Session Therapy (Solution focused)

About you

Life sometimes can feel like an uphill battle and it can be overwhelming to know where to start in seeking help. The first steps in getting support are always the hardest so if you are reading this then you are already on your way...

Redundancy, illness, relationship issues, trauma, and depression can often leave us feeling unsafe and lost. Sometimes we just need a helping hand in working through these emotions and patterns in order to start to make sense of the world and ourselves again.

I offer an initial free telephone consultation to see if and how we can work together.

Training, qualifications & experience

  • MSc in Psychodynamic Counselling and Psychotherapy from Birkbeck University of London.
  • Certificate in Supervision from the Manchester Institute of Psychotherapy.
  • CIPD training in Career Counselling

I am an accredited member of the BACP and I adhere to the association's Ethical Framework and Guidelines, I am fully insured and DBS certified.

I worked for 13 years as a Counsellor and Supervisor to students at a London University as a Student Counsellor and I now have a private practice in North London. My additional previous experience includes working in both short term and long term therapy for Women and Health in Camden.

In addition to my work in counselling, I previously worked in the city in Event Management. I eventually moved into HR working in both the private and not for profit sector, giving me a good understanding of work pressures, career and redundancy issues.

Registered / Accredited

Being registered/accredited with a professional body means an individual must have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by their member organisation.

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Accredited register membership

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
