About me
Qualified with 22 years experience offering psychotherapeutic counselling and supervision. I offer flexible hours with a free 1/2 hour initial session for us to meet.
How can counselling help?
Life can be difficult and we all struggle at times. We may find ourselves in a crisis or reflecting on something painful where a situation has shaped us and left its mark. We may be worried or confused and have an enduring unease, which has left us feeling stuck and not living as fully as we once hoped we could. We may have difficulty finding and allowing our feelings or we may be overwhelmed and unable to navigate our way through. These are all understandable human experiences in a complex and ever changing world.
What ever you bring, I understand this time as an opportunity for giving attention and care to you and your life. I see therapy as offering a unique relationship. I provide a safe and confidential space for you to speak and feel freely about your difficulties and concerns. This is an an opportunity to experience yourself without judgement, gain new perspectives, offer hope, new potential, self awareness and understanding.
About Me
I have been practicing for 22 years, originally training from a Psychodynamic perspective. The understanding behind this is that our past relationships and experiences inform and influence our current understanding of ourself, relationships and experiences both consciously and unconsciously. Bringing these to light gives an opportunity to be with, feel and think about our life in more detail and depth and also differently. I also integrate Brief Solution Focussed and Cognitive Behavioural Therapy where appropriate.
I have experience of working with a large range of difficulties with a wide range of people. I have particular interest in working with losses of all kinds, childhood attachment and trauma, addictions, relationship difficulties, anxiety and depression, low self esteem and work related issues. I have personal interest in unconventional lifestyles, belonging, blended family groupings, marginalised people, LGBTQ and non-binary identities.
I have worked in generic therapeutic services such as GP Practices and Counselling and Therapy clinics, as well as specialist therapy services concerned with addictions, domestic abuse and childhood abuse services.

Member organisations
BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).
Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.
Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.
All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
Accredited register membership
The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
