About me

Wecome and thank you for visiting.

I am a Transpersonal Psychotherapist and Counsellor and hold a Diploma in Psychodynamic Counselling with WPF and a PG Diploma in Psychotherapy and Counselling with CCPE, London.

I have over 20 years experience as a therapist and also over 30 years as a Registered Nurse with the NHS.

Counselling and psychotherapy are about listening and raising awareness of your unique strengths and resources and helping people to find a way forward.

Few people in everyday life; even friends or family really listen to us.

We discover ourselves when we are allowed to be ourselves in a safe, non judgmental space.  It can be the beginning of allowing change into our lives and making different choices.

I like to work creatively, holistically and flexibly (in agreement with my client) in a variety of ways such as drawing, guided visualisation, art, roleplay, meditation, dream exploration, inner childwork and mindfulness.

My approach draws from my training in pscyhodynamic counselling which helps you understand how your current feelings and behaviour are shaped by your past experiences and your unconscious mind and impulses.

I also practice a therapeutic pluralism in which effective interventions are drawn from several different therapy approaches.  For the most part I work from an interpersonal and transpersonal frame of reference.

Transpersonal means beyond the personal or transcendence of attachment to the ego.  The problems that transpersonal can address are symptoms many of us face; such as anxiety, depression, panic, addictions, relationship problems and weight management could all be seen to have a spiritual component which needs to be understood and explored.

In transpersonal psychotherapy, personal breakdowns and crises are seen to have a useful purpose in that they act as a warning signal as well as an opportunity to grow and unfold.

Transpersonal therapy is integrated into traditional therapeutic methods of counselling and psychotherapy.

I was a volunteer counsellor with Place2Be and also an Autism Ambassador.  I deal with a whole range of issues which include:

Addictions, Co-dependency, depression, work related issues, parenting, bullying, stress and existential and spiritual struggles.

I work in accordance with the BACP Code of Ethics and provide a private, confidential and empathic environment to explore difficult and painful issues.

I have recently completed The Couples Counselling Toolkit with The Counselling Academy

Training, qualifications & experience

Diploma in Psychodynamic Counselling with Southampton Pastoral Counselling which is affiliated with Westminster Pastoral Counselling.

Post Graduate Diploma in Psychotherapy and  Counselling at the Centre for Counselling and Psychotherapy Education Centre, Little Venice, London.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Accredited register membership

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
