BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Areas of counselling I deal with

Other areas of counselling I deal with

One of my main areas of specialism and experience is in working with people with terminal or life threatening illness. If you have had a diagnosis, you might be experiencing a mixture of difficult feelings. In my experience, it can help to talk to someone who is not a family member or friend at this time. Counselling provides an outlet for any feelings you might be trying to suppress and cope with alone. It can also provide coping mechanisms and is proven to be helpful particularly during and after cancer treatment. It can prevent further mental health complications like depression, anxiety and other types of mental distress.

I am experienced and proficient in helping people with cancer and other illnesses and their affected family members. I am an empathetic professional, and I can offer support for you and your family to manage and navigate the emotions and fears you may be experiencing.

Within past sessions I have helped with other unassociated issues such as relationship/family issues, domestic abuse, anxiety and depression. If you're going through anything outside of a cancer diagnosis, please do get in touch as I am trained in an array of different issues and may be the right counsellor for you.

If you would like to know more, don't hesitate to contact me for an introductory call and we can make a decision on the best course of action together.

Areas of Special Interest:

My main area of interest is grief and loss, although I deal with an array of associated issues. Through my experience working as a counsellor for Macmillan, I have helped people who have cancer and their family members with their mental health and general well-being. Over time I have developed a specialism in supporting people of all ages and backgrounds experiencing loss and bereavement. People often find it helpful to talk about their feelings with someone from outside their inner circle, family or friends as many feel that they don’t want to burden people with their problems and fears. This is where counselling helps; so if you are struggling with body image issues, relationship issues, health anxiety (eg. fear of dying) and low self-confidence/esteem, please get in touch.

I can provide a safe, confidential, neutral space where you can make sense of what you're thinking and feeling and help you through difficult and volatile periods of your life.
