About me
Hi I’m Jo. I have worked with clients with a myriad of mental health issues for over seven years where I have developed a deep understanding of how past and present experiences shape our thoughts, feelings, behaviours and coping mechanisms.
I feel privileged to work in the field of Psychotherapeutic Counselling where I am able to work with my clients to process their experiences and together establish realistic, achievable goals to live life in a more positive way.
I am a good listener who provides confidential, non-judgemental, empathetic therapy as I understand from all our experiences the importance of being heard and validated in a safe comfortable space, all of which provide a foundation for successful therapy.
Issues I have helped people with include; self-esteem, self-confidence, anxiety, stress, panic attacks, OCD, neurodiversity, abuse, bullying, family issues, relationship difficulties, addictions, anger and shame.
Type of therapies on offer
I offer an integrative approach to therapy, applying the most suitable and effective approach to the person and the topic of the issue in any given situation. This means applying one or a combination of Psychodynamic, Person-Centred, CBT and DBT throughout treatment.
I offer face to face, online or telephone sessions where appropriate.
What my clients say
“I recently completed my therapy with Jo. When I first started I had bad anxiety, but Jo was great, I was able to talk about anything that troubled me, I had issues with my past which she helped me process, also she gave me the coping skills to manage my anxiety. I feel so much better now, I’ve regained my confidence, I can go out with friends, use public transport, something I couldn’t do at the beginning. I’m finally getting my life back. I would recommend anyone suffering with their mental health to go for therapy, it really works. Thank You Jo”
“Jo has supported me through one of the most difficult periods in my life. With Jo’s unwavering support- I have evolved from the broken person I was at our very first session into a much healthier and happier person. Jo and our sessions have been the grounding I have needed in these turbulent months. The safe space she has created has enabled the long overdue reassessment of my life, my coping mechanisms and perspective. Jo has held my hand whilst I’ve picked through the rubble of my life, and I’ve come out stronger and more resilient…..”
“Jo is warm and friendly and incredibly personable. She put me at ease instantly, I haven’t been the easiest client at times and have been resistant to change and Jo has remained with me positively supporting me through without judgement. There are times when I wasn’t sure if I would see the other side of this at times and felt overwhelmed and exhausted. My problems have not magically disappeared, yet I feel much better equipped to deal with them….”
