About me

My name is Jess. I am a person-centred counsellor for adults, children and young people. I offer individual, one to one sessions in my counselling room at my home, or remotely, where you will receive a warm welcome.

The decision to seek counselling, for you or your child, can be nerve-wracking. Sometimes things happen in our lives that make us feel broken or as if we’ve lost our sense of identity. We might feel like we will never feel okay again.

Counselling is focused on the client's emotional journey, with their feelings at the heart of it. Working in a safe and non-judgemental space that offers acceptance and care can help my clients connect with their true selves and find their inner strength. If that’s what you feel you or your child needs, please look through this profile to see if I can help.

Training, qualifications & experience

I am a professionally qualified, BACP Registered and accredited, Person Centred and Integratively trained Counsellor. I am qualified to work with adults, children and young people in a psychotherapeutic way. I work in private practice and also as a Youth Counsellor for MAP.

I first qualified in 2015 with a CPCAB Level 4 Diploma in Therapeutic Counselling and went on to study for a further qualification (CPCAB Level 5 Diploma in Psychotherapeutic Counselling for Children and Young People) in 2016. Since then I have been working in schools, both primary and secondary, and with adults and children in my private practice.

I have worked as a Bereavement Support Volunteer as part of my training, so I have an interest in bereavement and loss. I also work in a trauma-informed way, incorporating issues of attachment and adverse childhood experiences that can impact long after childhood has passed.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Accredited register membership

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
