About me

Hello, my name is Jenny and I am a Human Givens Therapist.

If you are looking at this site it is likely that you either know someone who is suffering from emotional distress, or you are suffering yourself. Whether that's with depression, anxiety and stress, panic attacks, phobias, anger problems, PTSD, poor sleep, relationship problems, low self-esteem, poor concentration, obsessions, self-harming, addictions and more... whatever you are facing, I am here to offer you reliable and practical help. Using the best current psychological knowledge about resolving difficulties, I can help you move on with your life as quickly as possible.

You would be most welcome to come into our home, where there is a comfortable room in which you can feel safe to express whatever difficulties you are facing. There is plenty of easy parking available. So that's one less thing to worry about!

Training, qualifications & experience

Generally the type of person who goes into counselling is the sort of person others go to when in need. Finding myself in this position, the human givens training was just what I was looking for to enable me to be more effective at relieving emotional distress in others. The human givens approach draws on the latest findings from psychology and neurobiology about how people really function and what we need to lead fulfilling lives.

In 2004 I started my training. This entailed travelling to Birmingham, Manchester, London, Harrogate, Nottingham and York. As I rarely leave this beautiful county, I thought it wise for the first seminar to be on understanding anxiety and how to manage it! After successfully completing the Human Givens Diploma in 2006 and the Post Graduate Diploma in 2007, I became a Human Givens Therapeutic Practitioner. However, I have discovered that you can never have too many tools in your tool kit and so I continue learning day by day.

I also run Mindful Meditation and Guided Relaxation groups for anyone to join in with and learn valuable techniques for coping with the stresses and strains of daily life.

Further information

Military post-traumatic stress wrecks the lives of suffers, their families and friends. Trauma can cause flashbacks, nightmares, anger and depression, often leading to violence, alcohol and substance abuse, family breakdown, prison and even suicide.

PTSD Resolutions is an independent charity that aims to work with the people other services do not reach or have been unable to help. Resolutions offers rapid, effective and local treatment to reduce trauma symptoms and help re-adjustment to normal life. I am the local Resolution's therapist, giving 1:1 therapy sessions, in our area.

The human givens approach is supported by Primary Care Mental health Education (Primhe), affiliated with the Royal College of General Practitioners, and as a member of our accrediting professional body, the Human Givens Institute (HGI), I abide by their professional conduct and ethics policies.
