Jennifer Kennedy MBACP Counsellor and Psychotherapist
Hi I'm Jennifer, I'm an experienced BACP registered therapist who can help you make changes to how you think and feel so that you can move forward in your life. I offer a safe space to explore and resolve difficult experiences or situations from the past so they don't continue to hold you back.
I use a blend of Psychotherapy, somatic counselling and mindfulness to help you understand your limiting beliefs and negative thoughts so you can change them. You'll get the most out of working with me if you're already on a journey of personal development or have had therapy before and want to deepen this and move through your emotional blocks at a deeper level.
Sometimes we get stuck in negative and repetitive thinking which creates worry, anxiety, low mood and not feeling good enough. We can feel disconnected from ourselves and other people. The essence of the therapy I offer is about reconnection and working through the blocks that prevent you from doing the things you want to do. I help you discover and work with the inner child which holds the key to transformation on a deeper level and restores the connection to yourself and others in a healthy, authentic way.
I use coaching techniques to help you focus on and understand your purpose and how to set and reach goals for your personal development. I also work with spiritual practices such as meditation to bring you more fully into your body and the guidance and creativity within you. This type of therapy will work for you if you want to understand yourself on a mind, body and spiritual level bringing all of these elements into balance to create harmony within you and in your life.
Online therapy is an effective and flexible way to have your sessions. It takes place on skype, zoom or video call. You'll need a good internet connection and quiet, confidential space to take the call. The first session is to talk about what brings you to therapy and to familiarise you with working online. If we're able to work together we can book in sessions from there. I see my clients on a weekly basis online.
How I work
The therapeutic relationship forms the basis of our work together and I will share with you techniques and models to help you understand yourself at a deeper level. You will gain awareness and clarity around the reasons you get stuck in unhelpful or destructive situations, thoughts or emotions.
I also use mindfulness and somatic therapy which helps you to reconnect to your body and emotions. Quite often if we've experienced some type of difficulty or trauma in the past the emotions which accompany this can become stuck in our body and cause ongoing symptoms of physical or mental distress.

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
BACP is one of the UK’s largest professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy. Therapists registered with the Association fall into a number of different membership categories such as Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP and Registered Member MBACP (Accred), each standing for different levels of training and experience. MBACP (Accred) and MBACP (Snr Accred) members have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by the Association.
Registered members can be found on the BACP Register, which was the first register to achieve Accredited Voluntary Register status issued by the Professional Standards Authority. Individual Members will have completed an appropriate counselling and/or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but will not appear on the BACP Register until they've progressed to Registered Member MBACP status.
All members are bound by a Code of Ethics & Practice and a Complaints Procedure. Accredited by the Professional Standards Authority.
