About me

Making the decision to seek counselling is a brave one.

You may be overwhelmed by how you are feeling. You may feel wary or cautious about sharing the innermost parts of yourself with another person. It might be that the idea of counselling is a new idea for you, and you aren’t sure what to expect.

How Can I Help?

I understand how you may be feeling. I am here to listen to you, to support you and to provide you with a safe space for you to explore your life story, and empower you in improving your emotional wellbeing.

Working Together

I will work with you to create a therapeutic relationship which is based on trust and empathy and is free of any judgement. I will collaborate with you to explore your emotions around your life story and to heal from any emotional pain that you may be carrying. I will support you as you explore your own power and autonomy.

My Style of Counselling

As an Integrative Counsellor, I work with skills from three different styles of counselling:

  • Person-Centred practice – traditional talking therapy which focuses on client-led exploration
  • Psychodynamic practice - exploring how our pasts affect our present
  • Cognitive Behavioural Therapy - working together to challenge negative thoughts and behaviours

Being integrative allows me to blend ideas from each model to create a therapeutic style that is as unique as you are.

What Next?

If you would like any information about the way I work, or what to expect from counselling, please do not hesitate to contact me and I will be more than happy to help.

I can offer a free initial consultation of up to 30 minutes, either online or by telephone, where we can explore how counselling may be able to help you and discuss any queries you may have.

I endeavour to respond to all enquiries within two working days.

Training, qualifications & experience

I have worked with individuals of all ages, ranging from children (aged 11 plus) to adults. In addition, my client work has included working with individuals with additional needs and vulnerabilities (including working with homeless adults).

  • Bereavement and loss
  • Trauma
  • Abuse
  • Sexual abuse (including historical abuse)

I have a Level 5 Dip HE in Integrative Counselling, certified by the CPCAB.

I have also completed training in working with young survivors of sexual abuse (children and young people), certified by The Open College Network of West Mids.

I am a Registered Member of the British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP). My practice follows their Ethical Framework, and I undertake regular training as part of my ongoing professional development.

Additional courses and training include:

This is not a complete list, and my training is continuous. I consider training and learning to be a vital part of my practice.

Member organisations

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
