About me
My name is Jenny and I am an experienced integrative counsellor currently working with adults and young people over the age of 18. I also offer eco-therapy, working with women in outdoor spaces in Saltaire, West Yorkshire.
I am an Accredited Registered member of the National Counselling and Psychotherapy Society (NCPS) and adhere to their ethical code of practice*.
I work at the Victoria Therapy Centre in Saltaire which is easy to access by car and public transport.
Experience
Since qualifying as a counsellor over 15 years ago, I have gained experience as a private practitioner working in a variety of settings. These include contractual work for organisations, secondary and higher education provision, and as an associate counsellor for a life coaching company.
Approach
My approach is collaborative and creative, providing a framework that nurtures connection, compassion, and growth. I work only with what you decide to bring at a pace that is set by you. My aim is to provide a space where you can trust that I will hold what you bring with care and respect.
My work with people can either be focused on something particular or be more open in direction. I often work with people who are sensing a need for change or are feeling stuck with the environment or relationships they are in. I also work with people who are having to process difficult experiences that they did not want or instigate.
I generally meet with people for between 3-12 months, however there is flexibility within this depending on an individual’s particular needs or circumstances.
Next steps
Finding a counsellor that you feel a connection with is important. To help with this I offer a free 20-minute phone consultation. This aims to answer any questions you may have and to find out briefly what you looking for from counselling. It is also helpful for me to assess whether I think I have the right expertise to offer you. This is then followed by an initial 50-minute session where we can meet and discuss anything further before beginning counselling together.
A little about me
I am drawn to nature and all the different ways of being in it including walking, camping and growing things on a local allotment. Music is a large part of my life and I am actively involved in playing with others and teaching. I deeply value being creative and particularly enjoy experimenting with pencil, ink, and paint.
* This means that I am on an Accredited Register that has been accredited by the Professional Standards Authority and was set up by the government to improve standards and safety within counselling.
