Jennifer Ackroyd - Accredited Relationship/Psychosexual & Qualified CBT

Doncaster, DN4
Registered / Accredited

About me

I work with anxiety in general, panic attacks, OCD, PTSD, depression, social anxiety, sexual difficulties and relationships including communication, painful sex, erectile dysfunction, sex addiction, gender dysphoria etc.

Flexible approach in light of current pandemic. I am able to offer telephone and video sessions (Skype, Zoom etc). I offer a range of appointment times covering evenings and weekends.

My name is Jennifer Ackroyd and I am an experienced COSRT accredited Psychosexual Psychotherapist as well as a qualified Cognitive Behavioural Therapist. I completed my psychosexual training at the world renowned Porterbrook Clinic in Sheffield where I was provided with comprehensive teaching including medical models. I offer support aimed at individuals or couples experiencing exclusively sexual and/or relationship difficulties as well as support for all aspects of anxiety and depression.

I have 6 years of experience delivering Psychotherapy within a wide range of settings to a large demographic. I have also been working within the field of mental health for 9 years.

I am uniquely qualified in both disciplines, allowing me to transfer knowledge where appropriate. My training background draws upon cognitive behavioural, systemic, humanistic and psychodynamic schools of teaching.

The importance of a good therapeutic relationship is paramount within my practice. I provide an open and non judgemental approach, and appreciate the potential difficulty in discussing some topic content. I can assure you that I have experience of dealing with all aspects of psychosexual therapy and provide a setting in which this can be safely considered.

I can offer longer term support around issues relating to relationships including poor communication, the aftermath of affairs, the divorce process,  sexuality, gender dysphoria, painful sex and erectile dysfunction. Or alternatively, shorter term support and advice to help advise around anticipated difficulties.

Additionally to this, if you are suffering from anxiety in general, depression, social anxiety, panic attacks I am able to offer support around this. Importantly, I can provide education around what is considered normal within the realms of anxiety and how to use this to help manage and better understand what you are feeling. I can teach people to feel in control of what they are experiencing and help remove any misconceptions.
