About me

My style of working is warm and friendly and of course confidential. I have  worked within  the NHS for many years, and in private practice, I have vast experience of working with young people in many settings including  managing Young People’s Counselling  Services

I am an experienced and accredited integrative counsellor, which means I am able to tailor my skills and knowledge to you and your needs. My background is Psychodynamic Counselling and Cognitive Behaviour Therapy.  CBT works well as it challenges the way we think, feel and behave

At various times in our lives we all have unhappy periods. Counselling can help with issues such as: bereavement, stress, depression, relationships, work-related stress, anxiety and many other issues which lead to confused and overwhelming feelings. Sometimes it helps to talk to someone outside the situation.

I look forward to working alongside you to explore your concerns, and hope to help you to see things more clearly, possibility from a different view point. We can also look at Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Mindfulness and Solution Focused Therapy which can be helpful. The aim being for you to develop the necessary skills and resources, which will put you back in control of your life, your decisions, and your choices.

The first step will be to give me a call or send me an email. During our first session we can look at what is right for you.

We would usually meet once a week at a time convenient for you.

Registered / Accredited

Being registered/accredited with a professional body means an individual must have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by their member organisation.

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
