About me
Hi I'm Jane, a fully qualified experienced BACP Counsellor and Embodied Therapist with a background in Humanistic/Gestalt Therapy and mindfulness meditation. This means that I work in an integrative, present centred and creative way.
At the heart of my practice is the belief that our bodies and emotions are deeply interconnected - and in a world that's often fast paced and unforgiving, we can loose touch with how we truly feel and who we are. This can impact the physical and emotional centres in our body and mind which may be hardwired to hold on to past and present trauma. This disconnection can often lead to chronic pain, anxiety, depression, confusion, low self-esteem and unhealthy coping strategies which in turn can affect the relationship we have with ourselves and those we share our life with.
Using a range of therapeutic approaches, including Gestalt/Humanistic therapy, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Embodied Therapy, Internal Family Systems parts work and mindfulness meditation, I can support you to become more present and at ease with yourself. I work relationally and compassionately to help you explore the underlying patterns that may be limiting your choices and opportunities in the hope that you may reach your full potential.
The simple act of exploring and sharing your personal experience with a therapist is the first step towards growth and recovery.
My extensive training is underpinned by working both in the charity and private sector with young people and adults from 18+ who often come to counselling to explore past and present traumas and difficulties. This can be face to face and remotely, either within the comfort of my consulting rooms or via Zoom.
I am able to offer open ended and brief therapy within a safe, secure and confidential environment for adults and young people from 18+ struggling with a range of issues. These include anxiety and depression, stress, bereavement, low self esteem, domestic abuse, infertility and miscarriage, parenting and relationships. I also offer neurodiversity affirming counselling.
Training, qualifications & experience
I am a fully qualified counsellor and therapist with a Diploma in Counselling from the Gestalt Centre, London and additional certificate training to deliver, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, mindfulness meditation, neurodiversity support, and Embodied Therapy.
I currently work face to face in Elstree/Borehamwood and Letchworth as well as on line via Zoom.
I am more than happy to have a free chat in the first instance.
Member organisations
BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
Accredited register membership
The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
