Jane Hannon - Clear Counselling, Registered Member MBACP
My name is Jane Hannon and I am a qualified Person-Centred Counsellor. I have my own private practice, Clear Counselling, based in Shoreham by Sea, West Sussex.
The first step to starting therapy is choosing a counsellor and when choosing a counsellor it is really important that you find someone that you feel comfortable with and someone that you feel you will be able to talk to.
I offer a safe and non-judgemental counselling environment and pride myself on making my clients feel as comfortable as possible. If you have any questions about counselling, or if you're apprehensive at all about starting the process, then please feel free to either phone or email me. I will be more than happy to answer your questions so that you can explore your expectations of counselling before making an emotional and financial commitment.
If you are interested in knowing more about the type of therapy that I practice then please take a look at my website where you can find out more information about Clear Counselling. I've created a website that is user-friendly and avoids any unnecessary jargon to make the information as clear and open as possible.
The type of issues you can explore through Person-Centred counselling can include:
- Relationship problems
- Bereavement or loss
- Problems at work
- Traumatic or life changing events
- Abuse (sexual, physical or emotional)
- Negative thoughts

Training, qualifications & experience
I studied at the University of Essex Southend where I obtained the Advanced Diploma in Therapeutic Counselling, Certificate in Counselling Studies and Certificate in Counselling Skills.
In the UK I worked for the relationship charity Relate as a Youth Counsellor and also at a doctor’s surgery where I counselled adults. In 2010 I relocated to Amsterdam and opened my own private practice, where I provided a counselling service for Expats in English. In January 2018 I moved back to the UK with my family and reopened my practice in Shoreham by Sea, West Sussex.
In conjunction with counselling, I have also been a Programme Manager at Child Helpline International, a Mentor for young people, a Careers Adviser for adults and contributed a monthly advice column to the UK edition of Psychologies magazine.
I am a registered member of the British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP).
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
BACP is one of the UK’s largest professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy. Therapists registered with the Association fall into a number of different membership categories such as Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP and Registered Member MBACP (Accred), each standing for different levels of training and experience. MBACP (Accred) and MBACP (Snr Accred) members have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by the Association.
Registered members can be found on the BACP Register, which was the first register to achieve Accredited Voluntary Register status issued by the Professional Standards Authority. Individual Members will have completed an appropriate counselling and/or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but will not appear on the BACP Register until they've progressed to Registered Member MBACP status.
All members are bound by a Code of Ethics & Practice and a Complaints Procedure. Accredited by the Professional Standards Authority.
