About me
Hello - thank you for taking the time to look at my profile. I’m Jane and I'm a Person-Centred Counsellor offering individual and couples therapy, from my private practice in Shoreham by Sea.
If you’re looking at my profile then you are probably considering talking to someone about how you’re feeling. Beginning counselling, and choosing a counsellor to work with can be a daunting task – especially if you’ve never had counselling before. This is why I offer a free 20-minute telephone consultation – just an informal chat so that you can ask any questions that you may have, and so that you can get a sense of who I am as a counsellor, and if you feel I would be a good fit for you.
We look for counsellors for all sorts of reasons: maybe you are feeling low or depressed, or are experiencing stress or anxiety. There may be a specific life event that you would like to talk about and work through, or maybe you're in a relationship and are considering couples therapy. Whatever the reason, if you feel you would benefit from talking to someone, then please do get in touch.
Counselling, whether as an individual or as a couple, is an extremely beneficial and therapeutic process. Due to our complex and busy lives we don’t get the time we deserve to concentrate on ourselves, and counselling is a way of bringing some balance and insight into our lives. To take the time to really understand how we feel, understand our experiences and think about what we want in our future.
Counselling is a talking therapy. A space where we feel safe to explore our thoughts and feelings in a non-judgmental environment. I pride myself on creating a relaxed, therapeutic space for my clients. No formalities - just a welcoming and confidential space.
If you choose to start counselling with me, whether as a couple or individual, I will work with you to help you decide what is the best process for you. Whether we meet weekly, or fortnightly, short-term or long-term. It’s up to you – everyone is different – there is no one size fits all when it comes to counselling.
So just a little bit of information about me. I am a qualified counsellor with an Advanced Diploma in Therapeutic Counselling and I’m a registered member of the BACP (British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy).
I have been working in private practice for over 14 years in the UK and overseas, and am experienced with working with a diverse range of clients, on a diverse range of issues including: depression, anxiety, stress, relationship issues, bereavement, abuse (sexual, physical & emotional), anger, low self-confidence and low self-esteem.
Please follow the link to my website for more information about my practice and how I work.
Thank you again for taking the time to read my profile. If you would like to book an appointment, arrange a free consultation, or ask any questions that you may have, then please do get in touch – I’d love to hear from you.

Member organisations

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
