About me
HELLO & WELCOME:
I provide Psychotherapy / Counselling and Supervision believing that the uniqueness of the therapeutic relationship is like no other kind of relationship, it is a professional ethical contract where you will be valued, respected and listened to, in confidence and without judgement, as you discover your inner potential for emotional well-being.
I am aware that for many it's a big step to seek the help and support of a counsellor. Sometimes when faced with emotional conflict, such as depression, relationship issues, anxiety or a stressful situation, making any decision can be difficult.
MY APPROACH:
I will facilitate you to find your way through your individual journey. Enabling you to rediscover your inner strength and direction towards developing a healthier life on all levels; emotional, psychological, physical and spiritual. Your lifestyle, your principles and your right to make your own decisions will be compassionately and respectively valued.
INTEGRATIVE PSYCHOTHERAPY / COUNSELLING:
I offer Integrative Psychotherapy / Counselling , being influenced by theories of intervention such as Person Centred and CBT, in essence the presenting issues of each individual client determines the best type of therapy. This is delivered in a safe and confidential environment, subscribing to the British Association of Counsellors and Psychotherapists (BACP) Code of Ethics & Practice.
I can see private clients in several locations across the Teignbridge area of Devon depending on your requirements.
Integrative Counselling facilitates personal growth, promoting self-knowledge and emotional development. Counselling can help you focus on complex issues that may be concerning you and enable you to gain a deeper understanding, discovering your true potential and to aid awareness and perspective.
MY PRACTICE:
Jan Finn Counselling Service, has been established for many years offering Private Practice, Employment Assisted Programmes provision, alongside NHS contracts. Over the past few years I have expanded, to also provide Supervision.
I was a founding Director of Devon's Counsellors Southwest, a successful Community Interest Company.
YOUR PERSONAL JOURNEY:
Whichever decisions you make, whether to engage with counselling today, tomorrow, or sometime in the future; to choose myself, or another reputable counselling service, I wish you well in your personal journey.

Member organisations
school Registered / Accredited
Being registered/accredited with a professional body means an individual must have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by their member organisation.
BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
Accredited register membership
The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
