About me
Hi, my name is Jamie and I am a person-centred counsellor offering both in-person and online counselling to adults in North Cornwall.
Sometimes life can feel overwhelming; it can be anything from worries about finances, work stress, to issues at home or with family.
Life can be unexpected; bereavement, loss, illness, to trauma experienced both in the past or more recently.
Sometimes we might not know what the issue is but just feel a need for the chance to talk things through that may be on our minds.
Life can leave us feeling quite lonely, confused, or uncertain about what to do. I offer a warm and understanding space for you to start to explore these feelings in a safe environment. With experience working with a range of clients and issues I can help you to start to figure out those next steps to regain a sense of control over the issues you may be facing and support you as you move towards finding your balance again. Working within the person-centred approach means I believe in the innate sense we all have inside of us to know and create the change we need for ourselves. I will work with you collaboratively, listening with empathy and understanding in order to help you in gaining this clarity and insight into your situation, empowering you to effect the change you feel you need.
*PLEASE NOTE*: If you send me a message/email me and do not recieve a reply in 48hrs, please check your email spam folders! I have recently had an issue with them being classed as such by many mail providers.
Training, qualifications & experience
I hold a Level 2 Certificate in Counselling Skills, and a Level 5 Diploma in Person-Centred Counselling.
As part of my studies I had several training placements. I worked with the in-house counselling team at Cornwall College (Camborne) called the Penhaligon Agency, providing counselling services to students and members of the general public.
I also had a training placement with Pegasus Wellbeing, providing service primarily to men in Cornwall, as well as being a part of the growth into offering counselling service in Devon as well. I remain with the team as a volunteer continuing to offer low-cost counselling to the community.
I have experience with a wide range of issues; from general stress that may be experienced in life (work, familial issues etc) to more acute mental health concerns (depression, anxiety, PTSD etc).
Member organisations

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
Accredited register membership

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
