About me

Hi, my name is Jim. I am an Integrative Counsellor and have worked in the area of health and social care for over 20 years, with the majority of that experience working with children, young people, adults and families that have experienced some form of trauma. Life can be very tough at times and can throw up challenges that are difficult to understand, accept or work through.

I know through personal experience that difficult life events can leave us feeling confused and questioning our individual judgement. Professional support in the past has helped me to work through difficult experiences, build confidence, make positive decisions and live a more fulfilled life.

As an Integrative Therapist, I will work with you at whatever level you require, whether that is to work with you on aspects of your past and how that influences the present. Or perhaps you just want to work on specific issues that are impacting you in the here and now. Ultimately I believe we all have the power within to recognise what is best for us in life and how best we might achieve this.

Within my practice, I aim to be as non-judgemental as possible and to hear fully how life has impacted on you and how you would like life to be different. I offer a very gentle, calm, down to earth but also professional experience. If you feel that I might be a good match for what you want or need then please feel free to make contact.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
