About me

I am a Senior Accredited member of the BACP, and I hold a Diploma in Psychodynamic Counselling and Therapy. I have over twenty five years in working in Primary Care in GP practices as well as working in private practice.

I have worked in schools with teachers and pupils individually and in groups. As well as working in a wide range of settings I have worked with great variety of people from a diverse background with a wide range of issues such as bereavement, relationships, stress, anger, depression, work issues, anxiety eating disorders as well as many others.

What can I offer help with?

I have many years of experience in the Health Service and in private practice working with individuals with emotional and psychological difficulties. I work with individuals experiencing crisis and difficulty in their daily lives and in relationships generally. This might be as a result of anxiety or depression or as a result of a specific life issue which is undermining the quality of enjoyment of life, work or personal relationships or ability to cope generally. Fundamentally, most people look for counselling due to relationship difficulties which can be as challenging as being out of one or through bereavement, tragedy or relationship breakdown.

How can I help?

Whatever issues you are struggling with at this moment I can offer you a warm, open, non judgemental space so that you can have time to reflect on your life and your choices and options.

The key in therapy is in the relationship between you and the counsellor and the trust that is built up over time and it can be a very rewarding experience and lead to a greater self awareness and changes in your life, so life is happier and more fulfilled.

My approach

I work in a very individual way with each client and focus on what you want and what you would like to gain from the counselling.

When seeking help for the first time it can be confusing as to where to start and with whom and to find out what approach is suitable for your needs, The starting point is to have an assessment where I can recommend the approach I can offer you. It might be a fixed number of sessions for a distinct problem you are facing or longer term therapy for deep seated and long standing difficulties.

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
