About me and my therapy practice
Life can be stressful and challenging at times and counselling can help you navigate some of the difficulties and worries you are facing. I offer a safe, warm and empathic environment in which you can share without judgement the reasons that have brought you to counselling. Mental pain can stem from numerous causes and manifest in different ways. I am an integrative counsellor who recognises that the needs of each person is different and unique. I offer a private and confidential space to allow for the articulation of thoughts and feelings and to make sense of them.
I have a variety of approaches to counselling depending on the presenting issues. I tailor my practice accordingly. It is often useful to explore the relationship between thoughts, feelings and behaviours. It can also be helpful to focus on both the present moment and past experiences and their impact on us. I consider the opportunity to reframe negative thoughts into a more empowering way of thinking and being. Having worked with individuals of varying ages and backgrounds and as a mother and grandmother I also bring a wealth of life experience.
I believe that everyone at some point in their lives can benefit from empathetic and non-judgemental support to navigates life’s challenges. I encourage people who have never engaged in counselling before to take that important brave step.

Member organisations

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
Accredited register membership

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.

Additional information
I offer a free 20-minute telephone consultation to explore the reasons for you seeking counselling, how counselling might help and a little of how the sessions will work. Most importantly, this is an opportunity to see if we can work together.
Ultimately, you decide the number of sessions that you would like to have but normally if we agree to work together we would normally agree 8 sessions with a review after 6 sessions to reflect on the value of continuing our sessions.
During our telephone conversation, we will decide on a day and time to meet.
